It's been 4 weeks since my wreck where I broke my collarbone And it was healing fine and feeling great. Well out of nowhere I would get these really really sharp burning pains right where I broke my bone. This started about 5 or 6 days ago. So last night I went back to the emergency room and they did another X-ray. Well I was gonna post a pic of the X-ray but I can't find the button. But anyways, now that my collarbone is in 2 pieces they are overlapping and laying on top of each other which is fine BUT there a bone fragment (like a broken piece of bone) that is sticking straight up that is very sharp and it's poking my skin. The Dr said everytime I feel that sharp burning pain that's the sharp edge of the fragment ripping my skin from the inside so now they're gonna have to go in and take that piece of bone out..... How do I post pics. I don't see the insert image button anymore

Man, very sorry to hear that. Better to take care of it now though because, as you get older, things do not get any better.
Oh, I see the insert button is gone over here too. I do see an "insert image" button two buttons over from the link button. (Right before the insert video button.)
Bill
PS Nope, that is not it...it asks for a photo url. Hmmmm.

That sure doesn't sound like fun. Hope it all goes well and you heal up quick. If it's that near the skin, hopefully the surgery won't be too involved or invasive.
The easy image posting button is gone. You'll have to use photobucket or another host of your choice.

Renagade, I met a guy about 4 weeks ago who also had a broken collar bone. He slipped in a small bit of sand entering a parking lot, went down and crack.
It can happen suddenly outta nowhere. Be careful out there folks. Stay alert.

Damn! It looks like they did a sloppy job of setting it the first time. I, of course, am not a Dr. nor an accident injury attorney, but in my opinion that looks wrong. Of course, I do realize with the human body, shit happens and not everyone reacts the same to things.
Get well soon.

they never set it the first time. they said collarbones usually heal on their own and they rarely do surgery to fix them unless you are an athlete. Plus my insurance from my job doesnt kick in til october first (6 more days) so i think that had a lot to do with them not doing more than what they did. I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon on the 4th so i will know more then...
the 2 blue lines are the 2 pieces of collarbone resting on top of each other which is fine but then there is that piece thats sticking up... the dr said since they are probably gonna have to go in and remove thgat piece that they will more than likely put a pin in my collarbone to secure it from any further movement. IDK we will see i guess

IDK we will see i guess Make sure they use a titanium pin, or some other inert lightweight metal or, you will be leaning to the left and be making left hand turns without meaning to. This will cause uneven tire wear as well as additional stress on the front forks for which they were not designed. Additionally, if a ferrous metal is used in that pin, it could weaken the spark coming from the coil which will affect mileage and performance. I hope these Drs know that you ride a scoot and can structure the surgery plans accordingly. Bill

When I was in hospital for an appendectomy my room mate was in for a broken collar bone like that. He had to have a plate and screws put in. He broke it when he fell over on a trail bike when he was stopped.
Good luck and get well!
