I broke my wire harness from my 49cc TaoTao Venus 50 yesterday. I never installed one before and was wondering how to? Do I just look at the same wire color and attached them together or should I take a picture of the old setup and copy it or both? Can you also please help me verify if this is the right replacement for my Venus 50 wire harness? www.eagleatvparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=92575 (it say Venus 50 but I have to completely be sure because the store doesnt allow refund or exchange). For more details, I will upload pictures and videos tomorrow. Thanks again!

What do you mean by "broke" your harness? Why can't it be repaired?
If you are forced to replace it you should take pictures of how it's routed throughout the frame.
Noone is going to be able to perfectly "verify" it's the right harness because too often there are changes even from the manufacturer or third party supplier and things can change. The only way to verify is to lay it side by side with the old one and compare all the wires and connectors. If they say it is for the TaoTao Venus, then it "should" be.
Purchase with a credit card and if you get the wrong harness, send it back with proof of delivery back and file a credit card dispute claim showing the problems and proof you sent it back. Just because they say no refunds doesn't mean they can sell you the wrong item without recourse.
You need to contact the seller and ask questions. They are the ones who will know what they are selling. Try finding a supplier that will allow a refund in case it's incorrect (although with electrical parts that may not be possible).
Try to find out how reputable the seller is. I don't know them myself but you should be able to google them and see if they have many complaints.
You could also buy direct from a TaoTao dealer.
Hope it works out. Good luck.

I called the store and they verified that its the right wire harness for my venus 50 unfortunately they told me they dont issue refund or exchange in case the product is defective. I tried looking for their store reputation but found nothing. They are the direct dealer for taotao (http://www.taotao.us/index.cfm/eagle-atv-parts/). I tried looking some place but I cant find anything. It's risky. I never dealt with a seller before, that doesnt permit refund/return. I was thinking if I should just send my scooter to shop to fix my wire harness.

Your harness could be repaired. Can you solder?

If you can find both ends of the broken wire....looks like a simple solder and shrink tube fix.

So are you saying you don't know which wire go's to what ?

It's the sunny type 1 harness with the kick stand kill switch and 4 pin reg/rec. I hated the design of the type 2 harness so i installed the type 1 harness instead and rewired everything at the handle bars to fit All you'll need is a basic crimping tool and some crimp connectors.

So are you saying you don't know which wire go's to what ? Yeah, I never installed before and the wires are messed up and confusing. I also don't know if I'm missing anything.

If I understand it correct, it should look like this? 1. The yellow/blue wire should connect with white/blue from stator pickup coil 2. The red/black from wire harness should connect with red/black from stator excitor. 3. Connect both the wire pin I don't get the ignition coil though. I'm not sure what wire color should I attached to the ignition coil? Should I attached yellow/black to the black connector and the green wire to the green connector from the ignition coil? I think it should go the ground connector because its too short and wouldnt reach the battery. This must be the thick red wire coming from the solenoid? I already purchased a replacement but I will keep this wire harness and try to repair and study it for future reference. I will give you guys more of an update when my item arrive by next week. Thanks

Does wire color matter? Can I attached them randomly or should I attached them to same wire color? For ignition coil are they both the same wire? can I attached them randomly or do I have to follow a pattern? If so how? I think the shorten green wire with ring terminal is for ground because its too short and wouldnt be able to reach the battery. For the ignition coil it will work either way but it should have a green tab anyway so just connect green to that. For the stator bullet connectors you'll have to figure out which is coming from the exciter coil and which is coming from pickup if colors don't match. If you have a multimeter the exciter coil will be around 70vAC while cranking and the pickup coil about .3v, then you'd just connect exciter to black and red etc... I don't know if any damage could be caused by connecting exciter and pickup backwards but i'd be worried about the diodes in the cdi.

Thick red wire from solenoid goes to battery along with slim red wire with fuse holder. I wouldn't go through the trouble of replacing the harness myself. Too much mucking compared to buying a $5 crimp kit

Return that harness you bought and just take a trip to a hardware or auto parts store. You guessed everything right for the coil and stator, the red wires go to the battery and the green grounds on the valve cover bolt. Serious, this is a super duper easy fix.
