So i sold my soul (who needs a soul anyway) to the devil to get the money for this scoot.
It was "cheap", because it had some problems on/in it
- Starter bendix didn't connect
- Kickstart didn't "recoil"
- petrol gauge didn't work
- some minor cosmetic things
- Purely stock scoot
First thing that i did to it was to change the bbk from my previous scoot (Kymco Agility). The bbk had 3000km-4000km on and didn't look not as bad i feared
Piston, cam and gaskets i changed to new ones.
It started with no hicups. I let scoot run for about 15 min by itself. I couldn't help my self, i took it for a ride. It worked "ok", but then the hicups arise.
First. was the gearing. They are shorter than the Agility ones. We can fix that, i hope...
Second. some resonation from the variator. Still trying to fix that
Third. The annoying thing at the time. The scoot had a stock c.d.i and you guessed, there was a rev limiter!!!!
I told myself: No worries because you have different c.d.i boxes at home. So i drove back home and start to find the S8 c.d.i box. But when i found it, i shouted out loud: ARE YOU F***** KIDDING ME!!!
It seems i can't catch a break. I have about 4 different connection c.d.i boxes and non are that kind, Thanks Kymco!!!
Had to order a Naraku one with no rev limiter. It took for a week to arrive. Ooouu the joy when i connected it on took it for a test drive.
The speedo was not very accurate, so i did the same thing that i did on my previous scoot and installed a Sigma 1200 Bicycle speedo. It works like champ.
But every good thing come to a end, but not this one!!!!
In finland (yes, i live there) winter is coming and i'm old (34 years) so winter driving is not for me anymore. But there is a good thing about it. Now i can wrench it and modify the scoot for the winter because i have the scoot at my friends warm garage.
On the to-do list are:
- new bbk set, at least a new head because now i know more about sanding the casting remains.
- Trying to find/modify the final gears on the scoot, if it's possible.
- normal maintance
- and everything in between...
There will be much struggle, i just know it
I will post things, struggles, modifications and purchased things for the scoot here.
And sorry fore the occasional bad english writing...
