My dog, Bingo, was put to sleep tonight. He was 12.5 years old and healthy till today. He started acting lethargic and eventually struggled to walk or stand. He has a good vet that will be there if they are needed any time so we took him over once it was obvious there was a problem beyond just feeling a little tired or under the weather. The vet first looked at his gums and they were almost white. Then she used and ultrasound and confirmed her suspicion. She said he was bleeding severely internally. I forget the name, but she said most commonly it's a tumor on the spleen or liver that eventually bursts and when it bursts they loose a lot of blood quickly. She said he could be taken to a larger city where they could try to give him blood transfusions to stabilize him, then he'd have to have a surgery to see if it were able to be fixed depending on the organ and exactly what's happening. She said a 10% chance of survival would be generous in her opinion and it would be a lot to go through and a lot of money. Even less of a chance of him living many happy days at his age after all of this. After listening to the vet, it didn't even seem like a choice to me. We didn't want him to suffer so they put him to sleep while we rubbed and petted him. I miss my buddy already. I spent pretty much all of my time with him. I wish he were annoying me by barking at nothing or demanding treats right now. I'm grateful that he lived a healthy life until today though and that he went peacefully.

Very, very sorry Brent. Animals are wonderful except for this part. You made the right choice for him in my opinion. Bill

So sorry for your loss Brent. I know how you feel. We put our little girl last year to sleep after a long sickness. There is not one day that goes by that we don't think about her. Just writing this at this very moment brings back memories and fills my eyes with tears.
I am sure you did a fantastic job giving Bingo the life he deserved and he sure was happy to be at your side till his last day.
When our time has come to cross the rainbow bridge we will meet again. That is what I believe.

So sorry to hear this Brent. Pets are more then just pets, they're family. I'm sure he had a great life and is at peace now.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I hug and spend time with both of mine every day for this very reason. Pets are larger than life and only here with us for a short time.
Its taken me 5 years to let a kitten back into my life and another 3 years for our puppy.

It's always hard to lose a pet. They are more than friends, they are family.
Brent, my condolences. You did the right thing, I've had to have some of my cats put to sleep over the years. It is far more humane not to let our furry friends suffer in pain.

So sorry for your loss Brent. Had to put my best friend down almost ten years ago and I still think about him every day. Glad you were able to give him such a happy life. I think our friends must look beautiful with wings..
