Sad news indeed Brent. Really can't imaging how you are feeling right now. For what its worth in your place I would of made the same choice. To see your friend of so long going through all the pain and suffering of an operation. And without a lot of chance of leading a good life after, you did the right thing.

I know how that is. I lost my favorite kitty of 15 years a couple months back. I cried like a bitch when she passed away. She was everything to me. Always my anchor in any storm through the years. After she passed I had her cremated and bought an urn for her ashes. My brother gave me all kinds of shit on Facebook about it and I let him have it like he has never seen in his life. He ended up unfriending me, but I didn't give a shit, I blocked him right after because I don't play friend/unfriend games with anybody... even family. If someone can't understand how a pet can make such an impact on your life, then they are not people who deserve to speak with you in the first place.

Be happy for the time you were able to share with Bingo and he shared with you. This truly the hardest part of dog and master time.

Thanks to everyone for the support. I'm generally not an emotional person. I spent my childhood at my grandparents' house every day after school and my grandmother lived here for 20 years and I took care of her 24/7 for many of those years. She passed away 2 years ago and I never shed a single tear. I can't say the same about Bingo. I'm sure that sounds weird or cold to some, but there's something totally different about it. I had to be the strong one at the vet and to bury him once we got him home again because no one else could keep it together, but after that my strength ended.

Everyone deals with grief in their own way, there are no rules, there can;t be, we're all different even as much as we are the same.

Jesus Brent..... I'm so sorry to hear this. It's truly the worst day of having a dog. I just went through this same exact thing with my "Chelsea" July 31st. She was 12 as well. Was running and playing the night before, woke us up at 6 am and by 11:45 she was gone..... SAME diagnosis!!!
Dogs are truly The best friend you can ever have.... Always glad to see you.
I'm so sorry for your loss
Pete

VERY hard thing to go through. Looks like you gave Bingo a very good life. When I read the title I thought it was about losing a Buddy scooter....when I opened the thread and saw the pup it made my take a deep breath... Good men take good care of their animal friends. Speaks highly of you in my opinion. R.I.P Bingo

Brent,
I am terribly sorry to hear that. I wish you all the best. I know what you are through, and words can't describe that feeling. My sincere condolences.
I dread the day that I have to make that choice again. The two words that best describes those feelings " It's Hell".

My condolences, Brent. It's a Damn hard thing to have to do. It's been two years since I had to do the same. Still a heartache. Think of the good times.
