Was looking to use a 16v LiPo battery I had bought that was sitting around doing nothing and found a use for it....in a 6 volt application. The max current draw is like 1.25 amps so this battery could potentially power this circuit for a long time. Convention wisdom was to use resistors but that would result in heat and excess power losses. So someone on another forum suggested a Buck DC to DC power converter. They can be had on ebay as cheap as $2.50 I'm sure Bill over at PL knows about these, but I just found them. Cool ! Think of all the possibilities
