i ride about 80 miles a week going to part time jobs, and my triton holds just over a gallon of gas. the last gallon i got 69 miles out of, but empty seems to come up quickly. i ordered a 22 oz msr bottle as a backup. i am thinking it will fit in a bicycle water bottle holder, is there a better solution that is less exposed to prying eyes and sticky fingers? it would be great if it fit inside a larger water bottle then it could hide in plain sight.

I like the idea of hiding it in a large water bottle, but I've never had an MSR/SIGG bottle, so I dunno if it will fit or not. I'm sure you could find some kinda beverage bottle to hide it in.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a 2 or 3 gallon gas can and keep it in the garage for topping up the tank every couple/few days?

actually i do have a gas can in the garage but with only a 69 mile range, i feel better with an onboard backup, then if the unscheduled event presents itself, i am good to go.

I used to keep a 22oz MSR bottle under my seat but be careful opening it, the heat under there will cause pressure to build and if you open it too fast you will end up with gas all over your hands. I never filled the bottle past 3/4ths of the way also, easier to pour into the tank.
