This guy on CL has these 2 scoots for 200 buh a peice. I don't have room for both but I'd like to take one on as a winter project Should I get the 125 or the 250? Sure, there's no replacement for displacement but taking the condition of these bikes and parts availability into consideration what would be the better choice? They aren't titled but I will try the Vermont loophole route so I'm not riding dirty.

The 250 is a 4poop. Dunno about the 125 though.

There is no replacement for displacement. I have a 150 and a 250 and the 250 is the sh*t. The 125 definitely looks to be in better cosmetic shape but how are the mechanicals on them. If its going to be a project make the end result worth it.

I'd have to pass at that price unless they run and you got both.

Unless they were a rare and a highly sorted model and worth something decent resored id pass on both. I would first explore the availability of parts. You may get the scoots for cheap, but it might cost you a small fortune to get it back in running condition(mechanically and cosmetically) If you already have these models and were looking for parts bikes for cheap, then go for it.

If they are about the same mechanical condition get the most complete one panel wise. Plastic parts will be hard to source

For the 150cc Honda "Aftermarket parts for this engine are pretty much non-existent. These scooters enjoyed strong popularity in the states, but their appeal was more limited international and in the Asian scene where aftermarket parts commonly originate."- Motorscooterguide.com The 250 parts should be a little easier to find due to the engine used more over seas but still a bitch to find.

I can't really make out the picture, my eyes are too bad to see the writing on the 250. IF it's a Honda, it's a CN250 and they are a good engine. A lot of aftermarket parts availability and prices aren't too bad. I have an 86 Helix CN250 and its a great bike still at its age. Yeah, the plastics are available, but pricy.
IMHO if you are dead set in buying one if theae get the 250.

I'm not dead set per se...I was just curious if looking into fixing one of these up would be worth my while. It's kind of a drive to get them and I don't think they will fit in my minivan (though maybe, if I take the second row seats out) so I would have to get someone with a truck to help me, and since I work an odd schedule, finding someone on this planet who isn't working when I am off and vice versa is a little tricky.
