I have dealt with some "CRAZY WAZY" people off of Craigslist.
One guy called me to fix his rear brake... which I did. Then he got on the scooter and went to start it and it wouldn't start. (I never did anything but touch the rear brake)
He then said that fixing the brake "SHOULD HAVE" fixed the motor (huh!?!) (it didn't work before I ever arrived) and then demanded I repair his motor....
Anyway, the engine rebuild?....Uh....that didn't happen....paid for the brake job??...yep : - )
Crazy CL people? All the time. I've turned down plenty of CL customers that didn't jibe right.

What would be the downside of being a little more "flexible" . . in the customer relations context? NOT challenging your rebuilding expertise . . but even a 50mm BBK should run for a couple of months before bearing failure. there is no bearing failure... its running now. he is lying. thats the point. I'm not defending the OP...but you can't really say a motor should run a couple months before a bearing failure after installing a BBK. It "could" fail at any time. I tell customers right up front...NO WARRANTY on racing modifications....then they sign a piece of paper stating that in black and white. I don't usually check all the motors vitals. If I did I'd have to charge a good bit more.

I'd say its the customer's fault if there was a set time and they didnt show. cant expect service if you dont show up. maybe OP should have put that in his original post though if he didnt want to get shit on. But thats beside the point now since it looks like OP was banned or deleted his account.

Seems "us" as a community here was supposed to take sides with "Stroker aka 1FASTQMB" and rally against this CL person. In the end its none of our business. When given the option to express our opinions here, too bad that the ones that disagreed with theirs would turn to this. Sad to see this go in the direction it did.
There is 3 sides to every story. His/hers, theirs, and the truth.

this is why i wouldnt sell these things with a warranty on CL. anything goes wrong with it in 30 days even if it had nothing to do with what you did, you mustve caused it and its your problem to fix. anything i sell is AS IS and i advertise all known problems. i think there was some of the story being left out here.

You don't go off with profanity like that just because others express their opinions.

Folks,
I have very thick skin. Insults do very little to affect me so I need no support. I am truly Stroker aka 1fastqmb left the forum. I would have ignored any further comment from him on this subject and refrained from further comment myself.

I would suggest that any merchant here actually review their local versions of the UCC with regards to warranties. There are specific things that need to be written and in a certain manner for some warranties to be valid. Usually they must be bold or a longer text size and stated clearly on their own. Some jurisdictions do require the customer to initial or sign the warranty statement.

Yeah, if you're gonna offer someone a warranty, you need to have a means of covering that warranty. I've been selling PC's for over 25 years. I make it VERY CLEAR that any warranty offered is a MANUFACTURERS warranty, not a distributors. I also outline what the distributors (typically newegg)warranty will cover and what if any extended coverage is available.
Also, if you are going to offer a service, then protect yourself with an LLC. It doesn't cost much to do. I've been LLC for about 20 years now.
You will almost always encounter a psychopath customer or 2, especially on CL where the risk is higher.
Don't really understand the whole drama and "goodbye" thread you got going on here just because you didn't like the criticism you got. I personally didn't see anything vindictive said to you, but whatever. Not really gonna speak on it more then that, but I'll end with... follow my advice... get an LLC, and realign your warranty offering with something that stands to be more feasible.
From looking at it on my end here, it's just not realistic. You'll only end up burning yourself, and as you have already found out... pissing people off.
