Happy New Year everyone. I decided its time to get my Air Compressor working properly again. Its a Campbell Hausfeld compressor I've owned for 15 years. Its done me well but it doesn't get over 100 PSI anymore it gets there and just runs until I turn it off, so its not the pressure switch. It's an oilless model so thats not the problem. If it was a scoot I would say it needs new rings. My question is am I on the right track? Has anyone rebuilt a compressor before. In this disposable society I would just get a new one but to get one thats this capacity is some big bucks. Any help would be appreciated.

It probably can be rebuilt. I also have an old CH compressor that needs repair. But I still love it. On mine the switch went bad. Mine was purchased new in 1988 but still works to this day. Just needs a new switch (or repaired). Parts for your compressor can be found here

Thanks for the encouragement Humanshield. I found that site, Jacks got the best prices. I'll put it on the bench tomorrow and see whats up. I think I'll get the piston, cylinder and a set of gaskets, It could be any of those things.

at 15 years, I'd check your tank, if it was one of the cheaper models to begin with, I've known a couple that rusted and started leaking, My dad had one that just plain blew out one night.

It holds air for days so I don't think that's it. It started getting noisier about 6 months ago.
