My 50cc scoot runs well except for one minor complaint. When I first start it up it full throttle has no effect on it. Once the engine warms up a little it's ok. The easy sulution is to let it warm up and I usually run it up and down the alley a few times until it corrects itself. Any ideas for a more practical solution. It seems to be happening no matter what the air temperature is outside. Thanks

Do you mean that the engine won't respond to the throttle? Does it respond over idle at all?
It might be too lean. This is Winter and when the temp drops you need to richen the air/fuel mixture. A warm engine will run better under a lean condition.

When I give it more throttle, the power doesn't increase, there may even be slightly less power at wot compared to quarter throttle

Again, I'm thinking a lean condition. You also might want to check the valve lash (.003" to .004"). If you have a catalytic converter in your exhaust, it might be plugged up. Link to aftermarket exhaust that is reasonably priced: www.ebay.com/itm/181445829577 With this one you also have to buy the clamps, gasket between header and muffler and the bracket to mount the muffler. www.ebay.com/itm/111750661207 This one is a stock replacement.

Dan might be right...but given the weather, the condition might be related to the automatic choke... Simple test...cover part of the airfilter see if it gets better or worse.

This happens when the weather is warm too. A new pipe couldn't hurt I guess. This engine was a swap out for one with a broken con rod. They are both 139qmb engines but this replacement had a lot more hoses and filters and stuff. I thought it was just plug and play but now I don't know. Like I said, it runs exactly as it should once it warms up but the first block or 3 it's a little annoying

Another test is to unplug the auto enricher. This will cause the engine to run rich. If the engine runs better with it unplugged, you need a new auto enricher.

If the exhaust header has a larger diameter section, usually just before the muffler, that is a catalytic converter. When plugged the cats cause some mighty strange things.

I'll look when I get home tonight. I have another pipe if I need to swap. But who can resist the temptation of something shiny and new for their scoot? I sure cant.

how long does the problem last in time more than 5 minutes or less? John Maybe the first 3-4 minutes of my ride. I've tried letting my scoot run and warm up while I get a few things together (helmet and gloves on and so forth), but that doesn't make a difference

Bone stock 139QMB muffler, no cat. My guess is the enricher.
