The engine from the donor scoot I got for another project was supposed to have a good engine it, turned out after buying all the parts for a rebuild, it had a bad crankshaft, so I decided to go ahead and tear the motor down completely and rebuild it with a new crank and 80cc BBK, cam, carb etc. and since it's torn down and can the case pieces in the oven, I'm going to go ahead and paint the entire engine with VHT metallic ceramic engine paint and detail it out to as high as level possible. I have a question though, the oil pump has a lot of play in, the plastic gear remains in full contact with the gear on the crankshaft though, is that normal or do I need to replace the oil pump?

do you mean a 80cc(47mm)bbk or a 100 cc bbk? some people say 80cc whn they put in the 50mm kit since its 81cc. sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but i wonder which people mean when giving details or asking for help. wish we could all find a common ground here. would make it eaiser to help people or to follow the builds thanks. and its nice to see someone do a conplete rebuild.
