Adjusted the carb needle today, it was on 2nd position from bottom moved to middle test ran and then moved to 2nd from top. I also took off some of the intake piping that was blocking a lot of air flow. It's gone from not idling and 10mph if lucky up hills 30mph top speed flats to 20-25 uphills and 40mph flats we went over 60 down hill bloody terrifying on this little thing! Enough for me on this island!
I am wondering if anyone has or knows where to see numbers on specs of stock and modded out taotao 50s of this year. Feels like it may be running better than a stock bike already and now is idling perfectly. Tempted to go up one more notch on carb needle but concerned it might run a little too lean and burn up.
How much does an aftermarket intake type that look like k&n generally improve airflow and performance?

Strange, I put all the plastics back on after I got it running right and now it won't even idle??? So bizzare

Look for pinched hoses or throttle cable.

Can'tseem to find any such hoses or cables... thought i had figured it out to being the main needle too low/lean and it running and idling well warmed up but then on cold it not being enough fuel. But changed needle to give a little more fuel and it was idling nice but then on a cold start it dies out and craps out on running if not fully warmed up. Could the float height be off?
It definitely lost some top end on bringing the needle back to 2nd fromt bottom slot from the 3rd position, for now though until new spark and cable, cdi, and intake come just gonna fiddle with adjustable jet and idle stop

Your automatic choke or enricher could be bad. It would explain why it runs well after its warmed up

Hmm, not saying it's not the auto choke but since it's a brand new carb seems less likely. Auto choke and enricher are same thing correct? Heres the latest. Pulled the bowl off to take a look at the float. Sure enough it was high (could float too close to top of carb) so i adjusted it down (aimed for level like is suggested in the article on carb tuning www.49ccscoot.com/faq/carbtune.html#floatheight) at first it would not even turn over whoops! Then I went back in and gave it a little raise, it struggled to start, but now is running. However still won't idle and still dies out on me particularly when not fully warmed up. It mostly dies when backing off the throttle like to go over a speed bump. When you throttle it back up it does next to nothing and typically it just dies. What's interesting is that even if it dies on a hill. Once it fires back up it will take off and not only climb most any hill but actually accelerates up it! Still stumped lol wondering if i should try to return the glixal carb and seek out a keihin?

Did discover another thing today while adjusting the float, pulled the needle to see if adjusting it would get the bike to run and discovered at some point the rubber oring is missing, have not been able to find it online yet, seems like it would be an easy piece to find too. Maybe someone can direct me. Otherwise plan to scope out the hardware stores and auto parts store for a replacement.

Dount anyone is that interested but finally got the scooter going again. Wanted a PD19J but for all the searching could not locate one ao just went with a Keihin PD18j took some tuning but it runs well enough. New spark plug and ignition coil and new cdi. Tried to add an after market air intake, but it would not run, guessing one would have to upjet the carb? And maybe go with a bigger exhaust?

Still stumped it runs well enough when warmed up, but consistently floods and dies in first few minutes when warming it up. Brand new carb, spark plug, cdi, battery.
Fires up cold and runs for about 30 seconds and dies ( have to play with throttle to keep it going this long)
After this it will give a little trouble second start but eventually will fire and then can be kept running for about a minute.
Usually if I try to ride it at this point it will do ok but typically stalls out in first 1/4 mile.
From here it can fire up again and sometimes run fine, but sometimes run poorly ie lack of power.
Once warmed up it runs well enough for me to do what I need to do.
Have idle screw set so that when it is warm it usually will run at idle. If i turn in anymore to try to get it to warm up itself then it will be too high idle when it is warm and the bike will try to run when i stop to go through our cow gate and wants to take off.
Jet screw on outside is 2.5 turns out
It seems to almost flood itself when you first fire it up as you can smell gas.
Not looking for this thing to be a gem, just reliable, fire it up and be able to ride it kinda thing.
