So i am a newb and searched all the web and this forum for a good while before posting. Received a 2013 taotao 49cc for free and just got "most" of the parts needed to fix. I say most because the parts company forogt to send the fuel pump and gas tank on my order and instead sent me a tail light for a different model....
anyway.
Replaced broken throttle cable (any information or specs on mounting to throttle on carb appreciated)
New fuel and vacuum lines and fuel filter (stuck here because the carb pd19j tt5003 has three open nipples two next to eacheother at bottom of carb and one in middle pretty sure for fuel line, guessing one of the other is for vacuum at fuel pump, but stumped as to where the last nipple would connect back to on the scooter. Other lines replaced.)
basically looking for a proper schematic for the carb and fuel system and/or the bike in general.... kinda can't believe i have not been able to find one yet. There are tons of these things here so maybe will have to find one thats whole and copy.
No rush since i am gonna have to wait for fuel tank and pump anyway. Just can't figure out the extra nipple other than maybe the carb had a drain line that just hung loose down below the bike?
any help is appreciated.
Oh one more small thing re hooked up the throttle cable but it seems like there is a rubber spacer or something that would wrap on the handle bar and then the switch assembly box that holds mirror would fit snuggly on top of this because right now its a little loose...

Two nipples at bottom of carb : On mine, one is dead end; the other is a drain line and needs a line attached with a secure plug at the end. A brass nipple above these is most likely the gas inlet. If the fuel tank is above the carb (like mine, you do not need a fuel pump, just an on/off valve which can be manual (if so, do not ever forget to use it) or vacuum operated which would need a vacuum line, a line to the fuel tank and a line to the mentioned nipple on the side of the carb. Vacuum lines attach to the manifold, the curved rubber/metal thing between the carb and the engine. Looking at pics of the right side of the carb will show you about the cable attachment. Hook the cable end into the "wheel" on the side of the carb before you pull the cable(extending it), then slide the small part of the cable thru the slotted cable mount. Then adjust the cable leaving a little slack in it. Slack is tested by twisting the throttle a little before the "wheel" on the carb starts to turn. Then tighten both nuts so the adjustment stays. Then verify the slack adjustment again. All of this is easier than reading it. You're on your way.

Hmm only thing is i do not remember there being any loose hoses or any capped hoses... one in middle is definitely fuel. My gas tank has a small fuel pump mounted on it that works by the vacuum pressure opening it to allow fuel into carb. So one of the bottom lines must be vacuum but still stumped on the other. There were no Ts, splitters, or caps either....
Thanks for the tip on the throttle, once i get the new tank all hooked up will adjust it properly its installed for now though.

Is the tank above the carb or below? A picture of the carb and intake would be helpful. I doubt the vacuum line is on the bottom of the carb.

Ok guys here are some photos finally. Could not get a fuel tank to hawaii so i did the vinegar salt soak which worked pretty darn well. Its almost back together, but i still can't figure out the hoses. Have tried a few configs with no start. It seems like fuel is not even making it to the carb. Shots are of tank petcock valve with fuel line and vacuum line coming off, top of carb, and side of carb with the bottom two nipple thing. Just have extra hose on there running out for now since i dont know what goes where

It's literally just gotta be the hookup on hoses now, i started it with fuel in carb after soaking and now again with a little starting fluid in spark hole but it's not drawing fuel on its own

A little note... so the left nipple on bottom has fuel coming out of it, which makes me think the right side is vacuum which goes to bottom of petcock? Top line is fuel line from top nipple on petcock. So at this point it may be flooded with a decent amount of fuel coming out of bottom line. Most importantly where does that bottom line connect to the fuel is coming out? It could be overflow loose i guess? Just thinking out loud.

The side petcock hose is fuel for the carb. The bottom petcock hose goes to the intake manifold to supply vacuum that opens the petcock. When your scoot has been sitting for a long time or the fuel system is dry you can apply vacuum to the petcock control line to help fill the fuel system.
It looks like you have the fuel line connected properly in the pictures.
The hose off the bottom of the carb fuel bowl is a drain line for the carb. It is used to drain the fuel bowl when your fuel has water in it. There is a valve in the fuel bowl next to the drain port that closes the drain.

Well no luck getting it going, it will fire up for a quick second off starting fluid but dies quickly. Gas appears to be getting to the carb and even through the drain line but for some reason not firing. Might end up letting it go! I am at my edge for mechanical skills.

Remember, you need a filter on the intake and the carb has to be tuned to work with the filter or the engine won't operate.

Ok big thanks guys! Finally got it up and running and all put back together. Unfortunately the stock carb could not be opened to access and clean the jets and bowl so instead i picked up a cheap new carb.
Everything is working pretty well although there are some issues with throttle resonse. I had it up to about 30 in the flats... pretty slow, and it would almost bog up hills just crawling up at 10. What's weird is this.... sometimes going up hill the bike would suddenly rev up and begin to pick up speed and accelerate up the hill getting into the 20s. Not sure if this is an adjustment on the carburetor that can be tweaked? Maybe it's revving low?
Regardless i made it to the beach and back and up a pretty legit hill and home again for 120 in parts and labor and learning not too bad! May still turn it and use the money for an upgrade!

Have you opened up the CVT may want to check the belt, and see ho the rollers look.

Hmm! Not yet, will crack into it this week, that's a good point if the cvt isn't functioning fully or there's critters in there it would affect the throttling up Thank You very much kind sir! Mahalos
