Hey all,
I just received a racing clutch & variator kit from eBay, and I'm wondering if any old repair shop could install this or should I make sure to go back to the scooter-specific shop?
The scooter-specific guy's shop is kind of far away, and I'm wondering if a MC shop down the street could do the trick here if the install is straightforward.
Or is there a bunch of tuning, and "only people with a true love of scooters would really care enough to get it right"-touch needed for this sort of thing?

There's definitely a bit of tuning involved to get it just right. The scooter shop might get it set up faster (less labor) because they are likely to be more accustomed to CVTs. Some motorcycle shops will turn you down anyway.

Martin
My suggestion is to research scooter clubs in your area and find an enthusiast who would be willing or maybe even very happy to work on your Malaguti. At least someone could point you toward an individual or shop that does scooter work.

The clutch & variator fit! The mechanic did some fiddling he said but it ultimately all fit.
Good news: The take off is stronger.
Bad news: 5-8 mph off top speed + it's now basically running at super high RPM all the time - which makes it even louder. It's now impossible to do a "slow" & silent take off. It's full RPM take off at all times or it wont move...
Anyways - Thanks all for your help on this issue. I think I might have reached the ceiling for what this scooter can do.
