First thing i will mention is i have a non interference engine so she didn't bend any valves but caused me a pain. I just paid a shop 450 bucks to replace it because i didn't have the time to replace it myself. Well two days ago only 2k miles after the shop replaced it, it snapped on me. Thank god only right down the street from my house. My buddy towed me home with his jeep. After about 6 hours yesterday i replaced the belt and its running great. The old belt was shredded in half. I swear ever since i left that shop i heard a noise from the front of the motor that sounded like a real worn cam lobe. It was rpm related but i wasnt that concerned because the sound never got worse. The sounds completely gone now. The engine sounds so clean. I think im going to call the shop tomorrow and be an ass because i can. There's no room to make a mistake on a timing belt. Many engine's are interference and will need the top end replaced if a belt snaps.

the engine in my aveo is an interference engine. when i got it the PO had replaced it but not tensioned it right so when they went to pass it slipped 1 tooth on exhaust cam. ran like shit. got cheap and replaced belt again with new tensioner and water pump and hasnt given any trouble the last 2 1/2 years
