Hi all the scoot has been weird, starts first kick some days needs easy start others but then runs good and strong, this morning was a total failure,so I took a look a the plug and noticed the nipple had worked loose so after a quick tighten and refit my darling started up,was that it? I,m confused time will tell if it starts later my crank seals might not be the culprit, just me missing basics maybe?. Geoff

My spark plug wire came off when i hit a bump When i was riding 5 miles from home it was a like I hit the kill switch. Ordered a new spark plug cap good to go . As far as Crank Seals Aerox is right the One under the stator is usually the leaky culprit . I used a wood dowel and a scotch tape roll to tap them in . A good video for install www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTnufKDpeuQ&ab_channel=Scooterswapshop

Well she,s started up on kick start every time since the plug incident so I am going to call it a done deal till the lazy dog days of summer and our "big" clean and service is due.the speedo has quit again but the home job list has grown,so I will use my butt dyno for now.

Have you lost your spring? I have done a few of these. Even with a good spring puller, it's not enjoyable. The best way I found was to fit the spring to the engine. Then with a large flat blade screw driver. Place the flat on the spring post. Hook the spring end onto the screw driver shaft. Then you can push the screw driver out and the spring will slide down, and onto the post.

The little stout spring is still there but weak and not holding the stand up high enough,my memory might be playing tricks but I thought there two springs used,I have had a rethink and will post some pictures when I clean it up at the weekend.

My vertical only had the one big spring. Bigger than those. I might still have it somewhere if it's what you need.

Geoff I’m pretty sure my jog uses two springs in the same orientation as your Geoff. Tomorrow, I’ll go take a look and see how they are arranged. Maybe it’ll help.

Most scooters use 2 springs, I don't know why. I find a Phillips head screwdriver works best because the spring end slides over it easier.

so the first picturem shows the centre stand housing which is missing 60% of the tube section and allowing to much play letting the stand droop.the springs from left to right the problem one, spare replacement from the "stores" and the last one is the one fitted now it is a tad shorter and thinner than the O.E. thus taking the play up and missing bolt head by a whisker,it has done trick no more droop the new spring is 74mm x 14mm made from2.5 wire ,where and when it came from I have no idea but I have a few of them lurking in the odds and sods box,so I am guessing garden furniture leftovers Geoff

And just for the record if you can get the centre pin out of the housing fitting the spring and stand requires very little effort or strain, but that's a big if here's how I got one out a few years ago with an angle grinder. If I had to do this job again I would consider cutting the stand in half and plating it back together ,sounds drastic but I have put hours and hours into this problem and it,s still only half a fix.

That's totally different to my slider, and BWS. They must of changed the design at some point. I guess that's why some have two springs. And some one. Every days a school day.
