I think if it's got a lot of miles on it you are better off buying a whole new engine. It's less risky that way and a helluva lot less work. www.pccmotor.com/moen.html

That's one of the things I meant to do and never did. I thought about doing one with the bits and pieces I have left from my old 4T, but I didn't have all the gaskets to show it properly. I've got so many other projects going on, but if I can get some money together at some point for gaskets and seals (think the old ones got thrown out) I can put my old crank in and take pics then pull it apart to show the disassembly. Dunno when that will happen (not real soon I'm sure), but I will try to remember.
Basically you get the top end (cylinder, head, piston, etc..) off and then start removing side covers. Work the timing chain off of the sprocket on the crank. Once you get the cases all unbolted so they can be separated the whole deal should pull apart. The crank and bearings should come out together fairly easily. Might need a couple of light taps with a rubber mallet. I mean real light, you aren't beating the crank out of the cases just lightly bumping it. It should go back in about the same way. I used a gasket sealer like "The Right Stuff" or Permatex Ultra Black RTV on the case gaskets when reassembling. I think you will have to take off an oil pump sprocket to disassemble the cases (it's been awhile). Do not forget to put that back on when reassembling.

Nice color scheme. Leave the aluminum head unfinished and polish the valve cover and you'll have a little 1 cylinder Chevy clone. lol
