Will I notice any performance gains ONLY installing an aftermarket exhaust/expansion chamber without doing anything else to a stock 2001 Zuma50?? Do Pre-Bug and Bugeye have the same 2-stroke engines??
I don't think I want to do anything to my little scoot anytime soon, but was thinking if an exhaust is easy enough to do...

The pre-bug is a vertical engine & the bugeye is a horizontal. They don't use same exhaust. Will an expansion chamber exhaust work? yes you will see some gains but upgrading the CVT will do wonders with the exhaust.

If you're not willing to possibly add lighter rollers or stiffer clutch springs, you may have a sluggish launch (depending on the pipe). A street pipe, the quiet stuff that still looks basically like a standard exhaust, may show small gains all around. Expansion chambers can offer big gains, but usually at the expense of low end power... hence the need to get the CVT to let it rev more.

It's definitely worth it, imo. 2t needs to breathe, anything you do to help that is a good thing, but brents right you gotta tune it. Rollers, clutch springs, jets; but you should do that anyway, the cvt is very crucial on 2t. You will get better acceleration, but not a lot of top speed w/o a bbk.
You could do a bbk as a stand alone mod with good results, too. I've got a stock bug eye with a bbk and stock everything else, pipe and rollers, and it will wheelie.

my Like 50 gained a ton of torque and about 5mph just adding the exhaust before BBK or Carb or CVT stuff on but CVT helps alot

Cool, thanks PIG.
Are the pipe clamps at the muffler connection there for a reason? I don't see those on the manu'r pic...

I don't trust just the rubber piece to hold it on. IMO they should have come with the pipe from new.
