They do burn oil, which you need to lube up before or after runs...And whatever is up there is igniting the mixture. It is a combustion chamber quoted one of the worlds smallest oh and they run off compression ;D

Compression ignition engine, use to be popular these little things when I was a kid There is a big company in my province, BC, that has a good selection of the "vintage" style engines. You could get one brand new milly! And for a decent cost I think. They have one with a pink crankcase for $40US gsxr - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glowplugthey use glow plugs instead of spark plugs, but they both ignite. Not all the cox engines are diesel tho, but all have the glow plugs. and as milly stated, they are compression ignition engines so rely they on compression after you spark the engine with a battery... I've only done a bit of research but there isn't much to it lol. There just so cute!

Just found one over here on the net for £18.74p + £3 postage www.coxengines.ca , the company is supposedly the largest selling ... you will enjoy the collection of vintage ones they have (under the "cox engines" tab on the upper left) either way, you could just paint it up however you like! I'm thinking a little tiny remote car with the engine attached between the 2 front axels. - and I can't believe some of the engines they make for those planes, like a sweet lookin v-twin? I feel like I could ride it LMAO

If I remember correctly they start at .49 and go to over 50 cc some of the helicopter and boat engines are friggin huge. I had a Corsair with a .49Cox when I was a kid. The guide wire type where you control everything trough the tether cord. I built it from a balsa kt and flew it about ten times before it crashed and just shattered.

I have a real turbine engine in this helicopter

Wow! I would be scared to fly that thing Spaz. My hubby said he'd like another remote control plane, and I said they'd all be cardboard for him he crashed all his other ones. And those little engines get as small as 0.020cubic centimeters

First post is Cox .049 IIRC. I had identical when I was a kid. Made a control line plane when I was 7 years old or so that used the 049. I remember making motor mount brackets for it using flattened curtain rods, the only tools I was allowed to use at the time were needle nose pliers, a hammer and a nail. Good Times.
