Evidently, once the rated torque is met, the thin spring steel rod flexes with the impact from the impact gun. So every time the gun hammers after that torque limit is met, the thing starts to flex instead of spin. Only meant for impact guns.
Ohhhhhhhhhh, I see now.

^^ Cool! So, I didn't even know aboot this cordless impact wrench thing. i foond oot how cool these things are only after looking into it. Now we could cut our work on scoot time by pretty good margin, no?! I just ordered this set!  Awesome choice! Now get a Torque Stick 30lb and never worry about over torquing a variator or clutch nut again. Same one I have  my hubbies had it forever and used it almost everyday for years. He gave it to me recently since he keeps a lot of his tools with him or at work. The battery doesn't last forever, in other words eventually you'll need to buy a new one and there like $100 bucks lol. |

Oh, it's so friggin cool. I had to stop meself from loosening all nuts n bolts I could see... nothing was safe.
I won't be doing variator or clutch any time soon, but it has aboot 110 lbs/ft of torque... I will try it on my car wheel lug nuts.
So what I learned to do is use the DCF885 Impact Driver to remove bolts and nuts, and use the Drill to fasten all bolts and nuts because it has the clutch. Just drill all the way (with appropriate attachment) down til the clutch catches, and then use a hand tool to fasten to proper torque.
Just ordered the DEWALT DCF887B Brushless impact driver. I like this because it has THREE TORQUE settings.
Three speed and torque settings: 1 = 20lbs, 2 = 125lbs, 3 = 152lbs |
