10mm tools are most definitely the most used on the small scoots for me. Used a lot on the big stuff too. 8mm is next in line.
8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 24, 38 are the sizes I use more than the rest. Those will take apart about anything on my 1E40QMBs.
I believe 5mm allen is the one I use most.
If there's one size of fasteners to keep around, it's M6x1.0. They are in everything from body panels to engine/CVT covers or parts. M8x1.25 is prob next. M5x0.8 maybe next for stuff like controls? Most really are M6 or M8 aside from stuff like the axle which is M10 or M12 most of the time or the engine mount bolts.

I go to Lowe's for most of mine. McFadden-Dale on Decatur is where I get the hard to find hardware. www.mcfaddendalehardware.com/EDIT: Or it might be on Jones Blvd.

18-20 volt Makita, Dewalt, or Milwaukee impact gun. Phillips, flat head, and a pretty extensive metric socket set. Ranging from 6mm to clutch nut size.

Spaz made a local suggestion, and I do grab a lot of mine from a local mom and pop store where my father works. If you wanna buy more than a few at a time though, McMaster-Carr is awesome for all sorts of hardware. www.mcmaster.com

#2 Philips #1 and #2 flathead 8,10,and 12mm wrenches 4,5,and 6mm allen wrenches zip ties flashlight
not necessarily in that order, and far from all inclusive.

I'm also fortunate in having a local shop that stocks EVERY dang size and shape of metric fastener. The big box hardware guys are horrible at this.
10mm is #1, I never even look at the numbers on allens. No idea there.
