Okay I am making a cargo trailer for my 50cc Propel scooter and I need to install tail lights. I have purchased LEDs so to draw the least amount of power. My next issue is to how to access the appropriate wires on my scooter to tap into so that I can install a standard 4 wire trailer light connector.
Can anyone give me some guidance?
First, what gauge wiring would these circuits use?
Can I remove the tail light assembly without removing the plastic side panels?
If so, will it have a single connection that covers all the rear lights, or will it have separate connectors for the turn signals?
Will this give me access to the appropriate wiring?
Any idea as to the colors of the wires I want to be tapping in to?
Would it make sense to install an in-line fuse on the ground side of the trailer, to protect the scooter circuits?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Id find a cheap trailer wiring harness kit. The gauge of wire should be sufficient. www.harborfreight.com/four-way-5-ft-trailer-wire-kit-62965.html
With the additional lights(blinker/turn signals), the flasher might blink slower than normal with the additional light bulb load. Scooter wiring colors: Left turn = Orange Right Turn = Blue or Light Blue Tail light = Brown Brake = Yellow Ground(to all lights) = Green Trailer harness colors: Right Turn and Stop/Brake = Green Left Turn and Stop/Brake = Yellow Tail/Running Light/s = Brown Ground = White The tricky part is that the trailer share the brake/turn signal bulb where as on the scooter uses individual bulbs. You will need a adapter to convert 5 wire(scooter/bike wiring) down to the 4 wire(trailer wiring). just search for 5 wire to 4 wire trailer converter.
