I'm a very defensive driver. I pay close attention to everything around me and what the person in front of me is doing.
Got behind a Ford Taurus doing about 35. This guy wasn't signaling or anything and waiting very last min to turn. So I backed off a little. Gave the guy a little more room. My turn was coming up so I signaled and got over in my turning lane. Taurus guy was about about a car length ahead of me. So I made sure he wasn't turning, he acted like he wasn't so I started following through with my turn. For what ever reason I looked to my right while making a left hand turn and he's inch's from me making a turn! I grab both breaks and slide into him.
He stops and acts like its my fault! I turn into a parking lot and hes behind me. Start :swear: at him telling him to stay off his cellphone and pay more attention to the road. He doesn't like this and breaks off my Song Bloggie that I was using to record some driving. Lucky for me a cop was behind us as this was all going down. Actually turned in my favor and the guy gave me the money to buy a new cam and cop wrote him a ticket!
Seems like people in my area are more worried about their cellphones then others around them. Wish I was able to get the video though. Would have been a good watch.
So be safe ladies and gentlemen! Thought I would share my experience.

I for one would love to see cell phone laws wile driving. Not sure they would help but, I think a preoccupied driver is dangerous Period!!!! I think Mythbusters did an episode that found talking on a cell while driving is the same as being drunk. I missed the ending so that may not be true. I have had several problems with people talking on those stupid fukin phones instead of paying attention!!!!! There is no reason to surf the web, talk/text and drive!!!!!! Sorry rant over Thats the first time in a while I have read about a cop doing the right thing for a scoot. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

Rant away my friend. I too think its very dumb haha. Here in Indiana their getting ready to pass a Texting Law. Still though that will not keep people from doing it. This guy was talking on his phone though. Their needs to be more of a law on hands free calling. Bluetooth and stuff.
The cop was really cool with me. Which was a first. Told me I needed a flag on my scoot but other then that asked if I was ok and if anything was broken. I pointed at my cam and the guy offered me 100 bucks to replace it. Had I been in a car their defiantly would have been more of a mess.

The cell phone problem is not just in your area its every where. I run into the same problem every day going to work. I see these people that no sooner pull out of their driveways and they have the phone up to their ear. IT IS STINKING STUPID AND UN-CALLED FOR AND THEY SHOULD GET A TICKET. Tweak, congratulations to you and your achievement today. GOOD WAY TO GO!

If you wanna hear some colorful language, ride with me when someone is on a cell phone around me doing something stupid. lol I hate it. I've seen so much stupid crap. I can never understand why some folks will swerve around and such and not get off of the phone. What is so important? Get a hands free device if you need to talk that bad.
There are cell phone and text laws here, but everyone ignores them. The fines are minimal. Like $50 or so. No points.

I had a good friend die from a collision due to someone on a cell. They were both traveling around 60 and the person on the cell ran a stop sign. Of course they walked away unharmed but I believe they did do some time. They put a light there but what does that fix? This was about 6 or 7 years ago.
I was given a gremlin bell about 10 mins ago from my ex girlfriend haha. Got it mounted by the front of the CVT cover. I'll grab some pics on break tonight. If I remember. Hopefully it gives me some good luck. Pretty cool story if no ones ever heard of by their put on bikes.

Ha, the gremlin bell. Yup I made the mistake of buying my own for the Baron I guess. I was told your supposed to recieve it as a gift or it's unlucky. The Baron is the most gremlin infested bugger from day one. I'd sell her if I wouldn't feel guilty about it, LOL. Glad your experience worked out for ya. I think we've all seen some pretty stupid cell phone driving out there.

Thats the amazing fact behind it all, how many times have we all wished that there was a cop when we needed one. We have text/ cell phone laws here but I see everyday someone going down the road typing away on their cell phone and for some reason they are either not able to stay in their lane or cant keep up with traffic and slow everyone down.

I'll actually sit at red lights and count how many people are on and off of phones as I wait for green sometimes (I think I must enjoy pissing myself off?). Even with the cell laws, it almost always comes out anywhere between 1/3 and 1/2. Pretty crazy.

I always hesitate to say that there needs to be a law made regarding anything that has to deal with common sense. Some people have the smarts to be able to handle more than one thing at a time. Too bad common sense isn't a class that can be taught, so many people are lacking! If you are doing something and become aware that you are not doing it well, perhaps you should stop.

Too bad common sense isn't a class that can be taught,
You didn't used to need to be "taught" such things. A LONG time ago (about 30 years and before) there were no laws making it impossible to buy stuff/get into situations that would kill you right quick if you weren't kinda fast on the uptake. At that time Darwin was king (survival of the fittest) and the fools all died.
Now you can't sell that stuff, or "allow' those situations to happen, and the fools live on.

It's a small bell that you hang somewhere on the motorcycle/scooter and the tinkle noise scares away the gremlins that cause problems with your ride Not any help from cell phone wielding :cager: though. Like these, shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=gremlin+bellThough any small bell would do I'm sure, it's supposed to be given as a gift.

Thanks Goosey That makes sense. I got a gift for my cage that's a little clip on angel. It says "never drive faster that your angel can fly". I may just put that on my scoot now since I'm sure My angel can Keep up Not sure it will help with Gremlins but, every little bit helps.
