Im attempting to start my 86 spree project and I've noticed when I try to turn it over the oil pump is loose and is spitting oil youtu.be/LAoQsDFUkUgI'm guessing something is loose and needs a seal? That reminds me of a joke.... The punch line is "no, I just had ice cream"

Thats a simple fix, pull the oil pump and replace the o-ring on the injector pump. Problem solved. I wouldn't run it, it will act like a crank seal leak and could cause a lean condition when running.

I suppose that's when I tried to tighten it the nut wouldn't budge... the lack of oring is causing the wiggle.
Is that an oddball size or can I get it from my helpful hardware man?
Though I doubt that will keep it from starting.
It's weird. The first time I kick started it it ran. Then after that, bubbkis.

I suppose that's when I tried to tighten it the nut wouldn't budge... the lack of oring is causing the wiggle. When the pump & bolt is installed, the pump will still move a bit.

Remember, you are dealing with a "VINTAGE" class scooter. Even if it was well maintained over the years, anything "RUBBER" should be replaced, all lubricants should be flushed out and renewed. These are the BASICS of restoring/repairing a 30+ year old A.K.A. "VINTAGE SCOOTER". I'm sure other's mean well with their advice, but if you want SOLID PROFESSIONAL ADVICE, I am telling you replace EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, that is rubber on your scoot. Natural deterioration has taken it's course.

I removed the pump to take a look. should the shaft just come out? I see it's threaded, does it thread into something? I removed my pump and the shaft was still in there.

The shaft can come out of the pump, it "floats" between the pump and where is big gear sits by the crankshaft. The threaded part you see at the top that's "in" the pump is how the oil pump does its pumping.
