I've never seen it mentioned, and I don't have a brand new belt on hand to measure. But I was wondering what the thickness from the flat top of belt to the flat part of one of the V's is? I have a jog 50cc clone I came upon from a friend, all the other specs are ok on the belt, but the V cogs look worn and short. And if they do wear, how it could affect acceleration and overall transmission. I'm sure most are generally the same thickness for this style and size engine. Do if anyone can pull out their micrometer and measure a new belt for me I'd really appreciate it.

My new belt has width 16.5mm and height/thickness 8.2mm The angle varies and can be either 28 or 30 degrees.

If the bottom of the belt is worn from touching the bottom of the pulleys the belt is shot. The belt should never touch the bottom of the pulleys.
My new belt is 9.5mm thick, top to bottom.

Without wishing to highjack the thread. I am doing an off road event and looking for revs more than speed. No shims to pull off on my variator only belt and weights. Should I go for wider belt or narrower and lighter or heavier weights plus what contra and clutch springs. when I get chance to work . I would like to order parts so they there and can get going when not busy. Then I can get chance to look in tech section when on computer for more detailed analysis

Unless the belt is worn, don't play with the width. Roller/slider tuning is the easiest way to get revs up. Changing the contra spring to a stiffer one will also increase RPM. If you want to swap in a new contra spring, do it before roller tuning because it will change everything. I don't usually use anything stiffer than a 1000RPM spring. Use whatever clutch springs give you the best launch. Gotta try some of this stuff to know what works. There's no easy one-size-fits-all answer for a good tune.

I,ll throw my hat in this ring if I may,my CS50 Yamaha uses a 738X16.5 part no 5RN-E7641-10,gates part no PL30210 I think there are variants of the gates belt with quality ratings changing the part number. My reprobate of a supplier sold me a 750x16.5 which is just plain wrong(if you take a size 9 shoe you can still walk in a pair of 10,s kind of thing)That said theres a short case and and a long case engine mine is 18" tip to toe so check that first.
