Its official, as of the last few minuets I'm new to the forum. I found the forum while watching some online videos and have been looking around here for the last few days. I currently have a 2002 TNG Venice scooter that we've owned for 10 or so years. It was originally purchased as a basket case and repaired for my son to get around the neighborhood and up the road to his after school job, he's now 24 years of age and is out on his own, so I'm now the main rider for small errands or a beach drive by . Its a 49cc minarelli 2 stroke that has served us pretty well. Over the years it has lost spark, vacuum petcock failed, the regulator went bad along with some minor carburetor issues, but all failures were easy to fix. Ive recently been thinking of something else like a 2006 to 2009 Metropolitan or a Yamaha C3 but I'm unsure i'll like the characteristics of a 4 stroke engine and I've become pretty knowledgeable repairing this one over the years.
Past scooters I've owned Yamaha Razz 2t Tank urban 4t 2005 TNG Venice 2t 2002 TNG Venice 2t -- still own it Junker TNG Venice 2t parts bike -- still have some of it

Welcome to the forum I say if you don't care about about speed, just a nice leisurely ride then Metro or C3 would be great scoots. I'd pick the C3 myself because it looks so different. Both are quality scoots and will last a long time as well. I also noticed that you mentioned 2006 and newer Metro. Good, because the older models had main bearing issues and are failure prone.

How much work is it to get it up and running ? I would think the biggest issues would be wiring and modifying the exhaust.

They are dc bikes so a vino 2t stator and flywheel would work there with a vino cdi. Take a bit of wiring but nothing hard. 2t exhaust mounts to engine so that should be simple if it clears the body. A Zuma 08 and up had a black rear wheel that matches the c3 if you use a Zuma motor. If you use a clone they have a smaller rear drum so the c3 wheel should bolt on. The 4t in that bike isn't bad just needs a cvt/clutch tune and possibly a up gear to get the most from it. 2t would make it nice
