Hey guys, I have an 06 Tgb 101s (pre keywest). The guy I bought it from owned his own shop and did some shifty work. I ended up with this tgb after he blew a hole in my bbk piston on a eurostrada. He installed and tuned a technigas next r on this guy before I bought it. Here's what I'd like to do, I have a malossi sport bbk and a malossi multivar in storage and would like to geta new crankshaft and up gear kit. I want to do all of this at once. I figure I'll take the engine off the bike, I got a buddy who has the space and tools required to do the work and I should have a sweet ride after some tuning. My question for you guys is, is there a how to guide for bbk a 2 stroke morning, what do I need to be on the lookout for(especially with the crank and gears) and any advice you guys can give. I have a mechanically inclined mind but I'm an electrician and this stuff is intimidating. Thank you in advance for any thing

I assume that you mistyped Morning and meant to type Morini. These scooters have Morini engines which have a different bore and stroke so Minarelli BBKs don't work. Another thing to be careful of is the variator nut is a reverse threat so rightsy loosey leftsy tightsy. I think my R50X has circles and arrows warning you. Not all Morini variations are that way so you need to do some research if you have a different Morini engine. Be careful what parts you buy for the TGB some are proprietary and only OEM parts will work. There are a number of great TGB build threads on here that can help you navigate your build. Please keep us updated on how it goes.

Yep, darn morini. Hp parts are tough to find but possible. I'm looking for a roller set(multiple weights for tuning) right now. my problem is I know the stock weights are 17x12 but I have an aftermarket malossi variator to put on and I can't get a clear answer on what size weights I need for that. Anyone know?

Next question. From the pics I have seen, as I haven't personally pulled my clutch off yet, it looks like the stock than clutch does not have changeable clutch springs? Is anyone here clear on that? If I cannot adjust it scooterpartsco has both the malossi fly and mhr Delta clutches for the tgb. My query with them is will they fit and function with the stock bell/housing ? And if not what do I do?

You can get the complete kit for the delta for $115+ comes with clutch and bell,as.for.the malossi multivar the rollers could be 15x12 or 16x13 you can use 15x12 rollers in a 16x13 vari but they will be a little play but should work ok also some people also use sliders,I've never used them so don't have any help for ya on those

Clutch springs are adjustable
Replace with part number 245.030 - polini
I'd sell you mine if you want but I'm using the highest RPM springs, it comes with 4 sets total.
get yourself a bunch of sets of rollers instead of spending money on sliders.

Ok scrappydog is out of the cranks. I know you guys both mentioned the Athena, my only hesitation there is the mods you guys made to make them fit I'm not sure me or my mechanic buddy helping is capable. As someone said with my malossi sport kit a stock or close to it crank will be sufficient for my rpms.
I see racing planet has a couple options anybody know anything about em?

Ok, I found a crank on partsforscooters. It says in the description that the drive side has right handed thread but other than that is stock. I ordered it, I got the bearing and seals kit as well as the different nut for the drive side. According to them it should be here by July 10. So now I just need to know how to change this guy. I know to take it apart, figure I'll start with plastics and work my way down to taking engine off. From there I need to disassemble the engine here's where I get worried. Can anyone send a link or chime in with how they did it. I started reading elek thread on the but got thrown off with the full circle he used and talking about putting crank in freezer why do you do that? Sorry I know it's alot guys:)

Well I hope the one I ordered works. Here's a question, when I open this engine up how do I determine if the crankshaft is bad, how will I tell? Maybe just a bearing is bad?

It will be obvious if its as bad as you think. Otherwise you'll need to follow this and check if its true link. Here are several ways to install a crank link. But first you need to split the cases and you'll find that here link. If you want to be able to find this info on your own then Bookmark the directory that Brent spent a lot of time putting together and its here. I wish you luck with all of this, it will have you on the road soon.

I think I screwed up, I got excited and jumped on that ad50 crank. Now I find a naruku comparable to stock. Any one here know anything about that ad50 crank with right hand thread on drive side?
