so i have oticed something with my scooter and that is that as soon as i warm the scooter up it has less power. if i let the scooter sit overnight and then just start it and take off within 10 seconds of starting the scooter, it accelerates quite nicely. but as soon as i make it to the corner and go to take off, it was way less power. about 45% of the power it had when it was cold. if i sit at a stop sign for a minute, that kinda helps. ill have 65% of the power from when it was cold. i have checked the shroud and the cooling system and everything is normal so im at wits end.

Often an engine that runs better when it's first started or cool is on the lean side. Sitting for a bit and then going could be telling you the same thing. Could be getting plenty of or too much fuel at idle so it does better for a moment from the additional fuel in the mix.

i have learned to check that i have the proper heat range plug as if you have too hot of a plug it will get hot fast and yes if i have never had the shrouds off i will pull them and make sure things arent pluged up i have seen only 1/2 a shroud and i have seen them so packed with mud bugs and crap(i live in dairy farm contry so yes it proably is manure) but when i have the plug out to check to see the heat range you can look at the plug for general health
then next i would consider the enrichment circut(we dont have tradtional chokes if it sticks on you could be realy rich) and after i have ruled out the choke i will move on to jetting and then the contra spring

ill have the shroud off and take a look before i take my 100 mile run today and the engine is running in the proper mixture range with a perfect chocolate brown. the plug is also the proper heat range. so its either a plugged shroud (i do a LOT of riding on mud trails) or the contra spring. we shall see.
