I heard about this several years ago at a local auto shop;the old guy called it "OBDIII",claimed a cop could monitor all your driving habits and mods with this system, looks like uncle sam has created more jobs so we can become a socialist(read communist) nation they sooo want!!

That sucks! I bet they have a stipulation saying if you get a citation in a used car then you now have to have a box installed.
I betcha there's gonna be a 5000 strong revolt against that. If that law stands then that means that the majority of the US population is retarded.
We should all revolt and make a law so we are able to monitor the cops when they drive their personal car and upload the data to the internet so they get a ticket. I wish I knew how to start a website movement. We could go viral and get a bazillion hits. FREE RICK!

We should all revolt and make a law so we are able to monitor the cops when they drive their personal car and upload the data to the internet so they get a ticket. They should start sending out the data they already have in a lot of cop cars to a third party that will fairly evaluate driving and determine if the officers are on call or not when speeding. Issue tickets with fines and points just like they do for us civilians. See how many officers have a license left after they review the data. Of course that unbiased third party would end up a government funded company on the side of the law anyway so... yeah.

I can see this being a good thing and a bad thing. Good, can be used to prove you are innocent of causing a car accident. Bad, Can be used against you in a car accident.
I had read about this a couple years ago and at that time there was mention of adding a remote device that would allow law enforcement to be able to shut your car off, while this would be good during a high speed chance or anything like that. It would also be bad because it wouldnt take long before some hacker would figure how to do it and go around turning cars off as people are driving them.
Some bright ideas need to be better thought through before they put them into place..DUH...

Somebody will hack into it and find the secret code or something so you can disable the damn thing so you never speed.
It's a new arms race.

The police would prolly "Bait car" my ass and disable my whole vehicle! The tires would explode and the car would go into self destruct mode, i can see it already...
