Hopefully your Thanksgivings ended up a little better than mine.
My grandmother had been sick for a couple of days from a bladder infection and bacteria in her bloodstream. We had an ambulance take her to the hospital on Tuesday because she had no strength in her legs and even though I could help her get around the house, I wasn't too sure how to get her down stairs. The kept here for about 6-7hrs, diagnosed the bladder infection, and gave her an IV for dehydration. They prescribed antibiotics and plenty of fluids and said sh should be fine since after having the IV she could walk around as usual again.
As my family was getting ready to eat Thanksgiving dinner (actually lunch), the hospital called and said they found that she has bacteria in her bloodstream from the bladder infection so we needed to bring her back so they could give her some stronger antibiotics. My mother told them that she was getting weak again and they said they could check her out while she was there. They ate Thanksgiving dinner so she'd eat and I cleaned up all the dishes and such so they wouldn't have to worry about it while they ate.
We took her to the hospital and then they said they were going to admit her as soon as she got there. We thought it was just gonna be getting a quick check and prescriptions. She went in around 2PM and they basically just made her stay in the emergency room till they finally got her a room at about 8PM. Everyone went home shortly after she got settled in.
I started feeling sick to my stomach last night and couldn't really eat much. Then I woke up at 1AM in a cold sweat. Now my temp is 3-4 degrees cooler than normal and I still feel crappy. My grandmother had something similar in the middle of all the rest, so I'm guessing she has the stuff I already mentioned, plus a flu, plus they found that her hearbeat is too fast and said she is at a 6% risk of stroke if it stays that way. She'll be in the hospital for at least a coupel of days so they can see what's up. Hopefully once they get this infection beat she'll start getting back to normal.
Sorry to be a downer, but I know I've seen you guys comment about the site being slow and I just wanted to let you know what's up. If it's not one thing its 10 lately.

I'm alright now for the most part. Just a loss of appetite a little... but I'm like a bear. I could probably hibernate for awhile and still be fine. lol
I think granny will be in the hospital till at least Monday, hopefully home shortly after. They said her heart rate isn't perfect now, but not bad with some heart medication. They're still thinking the weakness in her legs is likely to be from the illness, but they're going to get physical therapy to work with her a couple of days just to make sure. Sunday will be her 89th birthday. She's got to spend Thanksgiving and her bday in the hospital. The important part is, things are looking up a little and the docs and nurses say everything is going as expected at this point.
Thanks for the well wishes.

I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope your Granny will be home soon. It sounds like she is in good hands. I lost my mother a little over two years ago from resulting complications of a heart catheterization procedure. She was 87 1/2 years old.

My great aunt, this grandmother's sister, passed away just a few months ag from heart complications. She went in the hospital because she was feeling a little weak and and never made it out. She was 93 and up to the point that she went into the hospital she still drove everywhere and went out with friends pretty much everyday. With that in the recent past my family has been very worried about my grandmother, but the doctors seem to have a much brighter outlook in this case.
