Here' s my go at a build thread. A couple weeks ago i got 2 2003 TNG LS49 2t scooters from my grandpartents. They have owned them since 2005  and barley rode them except for when they winter in texas. But for the last 6 or so years they havent brought them and they sat in the shed untouched.... untill now! And lets start tinkering.  

Heres what it looked like when i first brought it out of the shed. 

After getting it home i cleaned the carb, tank, and fuel pump all up and looking new. Fresh gas and fresh oil and i was ready to run...or so i thought. Crank no start, pull the plug and i have no spark. do some testing via links and videos from here and i get results of bad CDI. Ordered one up and toss it in. now i have spark! yay! wrong! It ran for about 30 seconds and would lose spark for about 10 min then regain it back for another 30 seconds. Another CDI ordered and replaced and still same results. so then i replace the stator and now it runs like a top and is decently quick as far as i feel. About 35-40 depending on wind with me 6'0" 250lbs. Heres how she sat after tearing it all apart when i thought i had an electrical short.

So the other day i think to myself " OK lets get the girlfriend out here and see if she can ride it" so i call her out and get her situated on it show her gas and brake and everything. So she takes off through the grass and goes to the stop sign. Perfect shes got it... wrong lol. she starts back from the stop sign and is giving it gas and isn't stopping with the throttle! headed straight for the ditch full bore and lawn darts the opposite side. She ends up being fine and more embarrassed then anything and get this as a result.


I tear the forks off and find that it is only the stem that is tweaked ( and one side of the bars). Pop it in the vice at work and start its process back home. After slowly putting my weight into it ( that stem is thick!) i got it back to where i feel comfortable putting it back together.
 
But before i got it back together i decided lets do some mods! I dont really dig the stock look of this scooter so i decided lets get naked! I need a headlight and when i was taking the scooter apart the Chinese makers must have been thinking because this little bracket makes a perfect headlight mount for 2 LED spot lights.  



And thats where she sits till my go fast goodies get here thursady and friday of this week.

Got another car package today! just have to figure out how to mount it up. ( see thread in 2t performance)
103cc built by 2TDave. Theres a build thread for it around here. Now to get find a carb and get the Hoca trans kit.

If I were putting together a 103cc with a Peace Pipe, I'd forget the Hoca CVT kit and go to the Malossi over range kit. You can't have electric start anymore, but it's so worth it in performance and reliability. It will cost a few more bucks, but I think it's cheaper in the long run. At least for me, less stuff tears up with the OR than the standard performance kits. A lot of people say they are not for low revving engines, and I even use the OR on my mild 100cc stuff with weights modified to make them heavier, because I trust it so much more than any other CVT stuff I've used. With higher revving stuff, as I'd expect with a Peace Pipe, it should make tuning much easier because it sort of naturally bypasses low revs when you take off. Even with 12g weights, a soft contra spring, and just 1,000RPM clutch springs, my mild engines jump up above 7,000RPM immediately on takeoff. I didn't get that out of the HOCA stuff even with stiff springs and lighter weights. It can be tuned to work with it, but I don't think it will ever be what the OR kit is. When that time comes (next pay day) I may be hitting you up for some tuning advice. I was just going to set it up the way dave had it but depending on finds I may go with something else.

Tomorrow going to finish work on mounting this new motor up. Will post progress pics as I go. I'm now going to be looking for a 21mm carb I'm assuming I will need a new intake? Or will the stock work? Looking to keep the rear facing carb as I have now. Any one have a carb and intake forsale haha.

Your existing intake should be fine, and it should match a 19mm or 21 dellorto pretty well. You can sand the intake out just a bit to open it up if you like.

Got the engine all mounted up today I'll take some pics of what I did so if someone else has the same issue it's documented. Now just to figure out where to get about a ~14 shock???. And now that the engine is in I have to cut and adjust the head pipe to clock it right for how I need it. Got a 21mm polini carb enroute to the house. Soon she will be on the road!! No cutting should be needed on the pipe as it was already mounted to that engine and ran quite a few miles..A center stand will not clear it though...

Well engine is in and got the pipe on also! fits like a glove.



Now i believe i need to find a bigger intake but we will see how far off it is when the carb gets here tomorrow. Hopefully she will be fired up by the end of next week for tuning time.

Any recommendations on a rear facing intake for this thing?

Got the carb in the mail yesterday, Ordered a main jet kit and a shock extender to try last night. Got the stock intake ported a little bit (as much as i felt comfortable) for a smoother transfer rather then what it was. now i need to come up with something for an airbox. has anyone ever used a race kart airbox like these? AIRBOX
or have a recomendation for one? i cant use my stock one it wont mount in factory location and if i hang it anywhere else it just looks funky.

I bought one of those kart airboxes years ago. I never used it because it was huge. I ended up modding the stock airbox. I can't remember the dimensions, but try to find a seller that lists it's measurements before you decide on a kart box.
