Has anyone ever thought to run this gas type in there scooter? I know you need 20-30% more e85 then just normal gas. It burns cooler then gas. Also has a higher occtane some what close to race gas. Just wondering if anyone has tryd.

1) It is a extremely dangerous *thought* to grow fuel instead of food. 2) Ethanol does not mix properly with 2 cycle oil. 3) If you need 20-30% more (compared to "regular" gasoline) you are not getting more for less. 4) Small engine guys can't run it.... what makes you *think* you should?
Ethanol is a snow job, the very same way we are being told "electricity is clean" (coming from the largest polluting industry in N. America).

Alcohol will make more power (17% for straight methonol) than gasoline because more btu/hr are produced due to richer fuel/air mixtures . Two stroke oils appropriate for alcohol fuels are available. Alcohols are very harmful to many synthetic materials. Alcohol absorbs moisture and causes corrosion problems if allowed to sit in fuel systems. E85 could make a good race fuel for scooters but it is not practical for street use.

Yep, more and more oils are mixing with alky these days. E85 is a great alternative for race fuel if you cant get it at the pump. Its close to 110MON and that comes in real hand with a high compression engine needing higher octane fuel.

e85 is one of those things I've wanted to try since the day I heard about it (in a car at the time). Never had the chance though. No e85 near me. All I get is the 87-93 with 10% ethanol that does nothing good. I could drive 1.5hrs each way to fill up my gas cans, but that's not gonna help me when I try to ride and need fuel while I'm out.
Kinda OT, but we have a station local now that offers ethanol free midgrade. I dunno if anyone buys it though. When I went by last week I think it was, 87 was 3.60 and 89 was 4.40 and premium was 4.00. So about $0.60/gal more than non-ethanol midgrade.

Non-ethanol grades would be easier to tune. Some of the % of ethanol changes from station to station with winter and summer fuel.

If you do run E85 make provisions to easily drain the tank and replace hoses with ethanol tolerant material. Racers always purge the system and run straight gasoline for a few minutes to remove all traces of alcohol from the engine, etc.

I have been running e85 in my 89 Jetta for about 2 years now. I get the same MPG with e85 as I do with Gas. It seems to run better on e85 except when you first sart it up after sitting for awhile or when its cold out but once it warms up it runs perfect. Also it has a pleasnt sweet smell to it. I been thinking about trying it in my scoot but not sure these cheaply made chinese scooters could handle it.

Your electronically optimized VW is all together another creature as far as ethanol use is concerned. With no changes to fueling or timing I think your scoot would run poorly.
