hey all hows things, im new to this forum as i have just got my old scooter wich has been sitting in the shed for the last 3 years running and i want to get it going the best i can. this is hopfully where you all come in, i have no idea about scooters as i only used it to get to school and back 5 years ago until it started dieing then baught myself a honda shadow to replace it.
i got it running today and cleaned the carbie out and took it for a spin and it didnt go to good so i baught some shell v-power fuel for it as i suspected the old fuel would have gone off. i took it for a second run and it went alot better right away and continued getting better on the trip home.
so tell me what can i do to make it like new again, it kinda dies in the ass when its fed more than 1/2 throttle and it doesnt have much top speed only 30kmph
are there any sporty exhausts or big bore kits i can get for this bike or do i just have to put up with it being so slow.
regards
ash from australia

:welcome2:
With a top speed of only 30kph, you need to figure out what's restricting it before worrying about performance parts. After 3 years I would thoroughly clean the fuel tank, the vacuum and fuel hoses, replace the fuel filter, clean the carb again to be sure no debris is in there if you didn't already do those things along with the first carb cleaning. I would also drain out the old two-stroke oil and put some fresh oil in the reservoir, and possibly replace those hoses as well. Check your tire condition and pressures. Otherwise just look over everything. Make sure the airbox is in good shape and maybe open it up and check the filter. Be sure the air shrouds are clear inside. Check the brakes.

Like what he said..............
In addition: check your vacuum petcock (fuel valve) they "gum up" just like carburetors. It is almost mandatory to use the specified spark plug, which is different between the years, so check your manual (or with your dealer)...... there is no such thing as "good enough" here.
are there any sporty exhausts or big bore kits i can get for this bike
Yes, but: The CW Zuma, or "pre-bug Zuma" (vertical Minarelli) has not been made since 2002, so demand is not high for "performance parts" (meaning there are no, or very limited, cheapo Chinese parts in production). What this means to you is: what you buy is generally more expensive and you likely will have to wait. The "branded" exhaust guys all make pipes, the BBK's are brand name, same with the stroker cranks.... you get my drift. Some may call this a curse, I prefer to look at it like: you don't get to buy any "junk".
In stock trim, running well, 70km/hr is what you can expect. Get the engine running well, then head into the transmission for a roller/belt replacement. Aftermarket rollers in the 3.5/4g range should be good and use a "genuine Yamaha" belt (though "pricy", I have yet to find aftermarket that works as good).

not true
Ok then..... try buying vertical Minarelli parts from any one of the three major sponsors of this site.
I did not say "there are no parts", I did say "there are no bargain basement el-cheapo Chinese parts" (that I feel you are better off without anyway).
