I was on my scooter a week ago, and it started losing speed...it would go no faster than 25...I went through all the norms, and found that the variator wasnt moving...and the guides were chewed up....got back in town today, and replaced the rollers with slider rollers...and new guids...everything looks great...but the belt is still staying put...it will get up to 25...and just hang there....I am not hearing the rmp drop and rise again, like a gear change, that I was getting before. I will say this...the bottom end is alot better than before, and I am using a belt that is just a bit longer than the stock belt that was in there...maybe 1/4-1/2 inch longer....I didnt go extreme with the rollers....I think I put a 5.5 in it....something close to that anyways. Thanks for any and all help.

Hows the rear pulley look and feel? Might not hurt to pull it off and check it out. Could be binding... Sometimes a little piece of old belt will get stuck in there and hinder performance. Even build-up of belt dust is a problem sometimes.

Ill check that when I get the motor rebuilt...I was on the way to work this morning, and it just started dropping off...and then died....took plug out and there is metal on the electrode. I got a ride to work, and have in the shop I work in...will take the head and cylander off tomorrow and see how bad it is...looks like a good time to get a 70cc upgrade if its the piston like I think. I cleaned the plug, and got it to fire, and run using starting fluid...but its running real rough, and is loud...with some white smoke coming from the exhaust now.

Found what I hope is the main problem...the lower rod bearing spun on me....I ordered a new crank and piston...the cylander is good and so is the head....never split a case before...but if I can rebuild a 400 big block, then a scoot motor should be cake...lol I think the bearing spinning lowered compression, and was limiting the RPM's I was getting...so I never got to a speed that would allow the cvt to function as it should...dont know...cause this is all new to me...but its a theory. as it stands, Ill have the crank with rod, and piston in 5 days..and will tear into and try to bring it back to life....then see how it goes. I am buying a used 4 stroker to get around on till its up again....and I may even save my money for the JOG90 scrappy sells...and drop that in for more fun factor...anyone have any experiance with the jog90 swap?

The scooter engine can be more of a pain at times. lol There is some info in the Tech Library showing different ways to do the crank swap.
I've messed with 90s a lot. Never messed with one from scrappy. They get mixed reviews. I think if you are willing to go over them they can be great, but it sounds like you can't expect to just receive one ready to run. Lots of info on 90s and swaps in the Tech Library as well. Have a look around. Might wanna do some searching here and on Google and see what turns up about Scrappy and 90-100cc engines just so you can make your own educated decision.

I wonder if he is selling real 3YJ genuine Jog engines? It looks like one. If so the mount bar is different than any a longcase engine has ive seen. Its centered, were the longsace,s are offset. If so its a better deal than say for a CPI engine. It all in the cases. The Yamaha cases are matched better, thicker, and just better IMO. They come with bigger heavy duty fans. And probably more stuff i havet noticed yet.

I spoke with scrappy before I placed my order...I just got a crank and rebuild kit...but they said if you had a jog50, the jog90 would bolt right in with all the same hook ups...but only if you had the jog 50 with the same serial number as the jog 90...yall know better what they meant than me...lol looks like something to try when I get better funded to play around....or when I have a spare scoot to ride.

Im betting its because the mount bar is different, and maybe the stator wiring? You could swap those around and use it in any shortcase app im sure.

;D Parts ordered from scrappy on wed, and delivered this morning....now thats service! I wasnt sure if the crank came with new seals and all...so I was going to be very carefull taking it apart....but it came with new seals, bearings, the works....I m glad I ordered a new small end bearing though..because neither the crank or piston came with one.the crank is supprisingly heavy for its size...but I got everything I need, inclusing a new kickstart gear so I can get the kick start back to working right. if all goes well, I should have the motor running monday when I get to the shop...I have it up there so I can use the press and air tools to make the bearings an easier affair. no need to heat and cool parts when you can use the press...lol
