After being discharged for getting a kidney stone stone blasted this morning, I was told I could not drive a car, ride a bicycle, use power tools, or make important decisions. They never said anything about riding scooters.

Your Dr must know you can't separate a man from his scoot. I just had one a few weeks ago. My Dr just told me you should pass that stone. I did . It was just over 6mm. About the size of Abe's head on a penny. Yeah that's fun.

Mine was a tad bigger, doubt it was going to pass. As long as I could deal with the pain I had to wait till today for the machine to be in the area to do the blasting(last wednesday is when all the fun began). Guess the machine is shared among several hospitals in the state.
I had to chuckle with the list of do's and don't, and scooters were not on it. (although motor vehicles and scooters are sorta on the same list.
This was more of a humor post.

My father is getting a 12mm stone blasted in a couple of weeks. I think they found it last winter. He put it off because he needs 2 cataracts surgeries and another eye surgery too and the idea of 4 surgeries made him want to forget 'em all and be left alone. He's finally doing it after they told him it would be dangerous if it did move because it could not pass.
I've watched my father sweat and throw up in pain from kidney stones in the past. I've seen him grit through a lot of stuff, so kidney stones sure aren't something I look forward to ever finding out about personally.

I have had dozens of Kidney stones. So many that I can tell the doc where the stone is before he does any X-rays or anything. Pics have shown up to 12mm. I probably have several >12mm in my kidneys at the moment. They move sometimes and cause temporary blockage. I have learned to tough them out at home unless something strange happens. Last time I had a blood vessel on the ureter rupture. The docs didn't believe it and tried to feed me a line of BS. I knew what had happened. It is MUCH cheaper to stay home. Mine dissolve in the bladder so I have not had to pass any on through down below. I also have 'an abundance' of gallstones. I am waiting for that crap to hit the rotary impeller.

Something to look forwards to as I get older and crotchety.

I never understood why my mother favourite cures was " I hope you pass a kidney stone through a hard on". .... Then I had to pass a few stones.

Been there done that, the most painful 2 months of my life. The actual passing was pretty anticlimactic. I looked in the toilet and there it was. Fortunately I didn't live through thephrancs mothers curse.

It's not so pleasant when it doesn't quite make it out and you run out of pee. So it's sitting in your waiting until next time.

What in the world did thephrancs do to his mother to deserve that? (Stone passing survivor, thank the Lord the last 3 were small.)

Trying to 'work it out' when it is part way through might seem like something else.... Some pain medicine and copious quantities of fluids is the remedy. They just have better pain meds at the ER. I am strange though, (yes I am) but pain meds that just make you don't care that you are in pain seem useless to me.
