Welp, Looks like our turn may finally have come back around.
I was here for Wilma in 2005 and that was scary....but it was a mere baby compared to the monster knocking at the door for this weekend.
Looking at the projected track as of 8:00pm Wednesday evening, it's coming directly over my house near Miami.
This is the first time I'm actually worried. Winds are forecast to be at least 145mph. But some strengthening could occur as it crosses the very warm Florida straights. This mega storm is more dangerous than Andrew back in 1992 and it devastated South Florida.
I know there are others at this forum living in Florida and some not far from me in South East Florida. Who knows....maybe a last minute change in the steering currents will push it away.....I can only pray.
Took my Phantom drone up a few hundred feet today to get a video of the area before. Hopefully I'll be around to get the "after" video.
Good luck. Batten down the hatches and hope to talk to you on the other side.

This one looks like what is bad for you is good for us, likewise what is good for you is bad for us here in Myrtle Beach SC! Whatever the outcome please be careful, the storm surge appears to have incredible potential on with this one.
I have been playing the hurricane game here all my life, at this point I just get out of the way for anything above a cat 2.
Wish you well bro.

I was in Palm Beach for Andrew in 1992 and it was no joke. I'd say I can't imagine what Irma is going to do, but looking at what it's done to St. Martin already, I already know its potential. I'd get tf out of Dodge if I were you. Whatever you do, good luck!

Don't forget, things can be replaced, houses can be rebuild but lives cannot. So if push comes to shove, pack your stuff grab your pet(s) and family and go.
Stay safe out there and good luck.

Please keep yourself and those around you safe if you are in the projected path of this monster. I'm hoping the best for all of you down south.

We have been waiting to see what Ol' Irma does to make the decision whether to head up to TN or not. I may just send the girls up and stay behind to handle stuff but agonizing over the decision to be separated from my family during all of this. Hmm... tough decisions. My mother-in-law is near Daytona on the East side of FL and we can't seem to talk any sense into her- they're staying put. They won't even come over to the Gulf side here where it shouldn't be *as bad* but nobody really knows the path for sure... Stores here are all out of water and propane and I was seeing lines at gas stations around the block yesterday. Many stations are out of fuel now too. Hope everyone is safe! We're all stocked up at my house and on top of a hill but then again I'm only a couple miles inland on the Gulf side and have never experienced a storm of this magnitude... It's been really tough to make the decision to leave or not with so many responsibilities and the possibility of gridlock growing every hour. Decisions decisions.

it's turned west so those of us in South Georgia may be in danger now, the stores are out of bottled water, batteries, milk, bread, looks like a zombie apocalypse was going to come through

Get OUT if you can! Unfortunately at some point that decision is made for you and you run out of options.
Do they even have a clue which way it is going to go? The tracking programs don't agree.
At least you can see this storm coming. Mexico just got slammed with an earthquake.

I hope all that are in the path of this storm heed the warnings and take the proper precautions for their safety. Don't wait till the last minute.

Well, We've been spared after all. The track apparently shifted West at the last hours and now seems to be headed to the far WEST coast. Many people left town and it's odd seeing it so empty here. Many of my neighbors fled North. It's hard to describe the amount of hard work that went into preparing for the storm...but it'll wear you out. I REALLY appreciate all the responses and well wishes. Very nice group of guys here. Let's keep everyone one the WEST coast of Florida in out thoughts because while the EAST coast has been spared, people on the WEST coast now have the brunt of the storm. Be safe everyone. HS
