Hello I have a 1992 BWS in black which has been in storage since 1999 with only 5,000 miles on it. since I have had it I have refreshed a lot of parts as below-
Polini Hi Speed Complete Kit Tecnigas Silent Pro Exhaust Dellorto 17.5mm #82 Main / #38 Pilot / Needle Clip One Up From Bottom. RAMAIR Panel Filter - Standard airbox unrestricted
My top speed was 42.9mph / 69kph.
i replaced the rear torque converter and fitted some 4.5g rollers today and this hasn't helped at all, think I have lost some speed.
does anyone have any ideas what speed I should be getting or what else I could check / try.
many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum I used a Polini High Speed variator on a Zuma before and I had similar issues with top speed that I could never figure out. I only used the OEM belt though, so maybe if I'd used a Polini belt things would have changed? Not sure, but it did have much better take off speed. To make sure that you are getting full belt travel use the sharpie method; Use a sharpie to put a straight line from center of front pulley to the outer edge. Drive it and then check to see how much of the sharpie mark is still visible. The belt removing all of it is the best. I tried to find a picture or vide of what I'm talking about, but for the life of me I can't find one.

Neil,42 ain,t that bad, depends on how heavy you are,but for a stock(ish) 49cc your already in the game. You,ll need to spend some time in the tech section to tweak your set up,Every scoot is different so there.s no magic set up,but lighter rollers arn,t always better, try the needle clip in the middle and get a few larger jets to try.Welcome to the forum, keep us posted

That's for the replys, I have some 5g rollers on order as I think the standard Polini ones where 5.6 or something. I am trying to get it to hold a steady revs of 8500 / 9000rpm.
Take off is a bit slow until he revs climb but this might be a A/F ratio issue and on the rich side.
Once the new rollers arrive I plan to check the carb then and see if it needs leaning out a little. I will also whip out the sharpe to check belt travel.

how fast do you think a 50cc should go? if you want it a lot faster, put a big bore Polini Contessa or a Malossi sport bore. you're going to need more power if you want to go faster. the 47mm has more power than the 40mm to pull the bike to higher speeds.
