Hello from South Carolina. I like to tinker on these little motors and currently playing with 2 taotao 49cc and one I change to 80cc and the other one to 100cc. The 100 gave me a problem though. After doing everything I could think of I could not get it to start and run. Come to find out some previous owner took the magneto off and put it back on without the nut and washer and the magneto somehow sheared the keyway and took a piece of the shaft with it. So today I made another keyway with my side grinder and an old head from a hammer and put the magneto inline and added a washer and nut, re-adjusted the cam with the timing mark and finally got it running. It took me a week of going back and forth to it to figure out what was going on. At least I figured it out.

If you had to move the keyway at all, you should probably mark the flywheel for true TDC and check your ignition timing as well. You've got it running though, so as long as it runs pretty well it should be close.

Welcome to the forum. That's an unusual problem to have. Must of caused some head scratching

Thanks for the welcome. It was a Pain in the rear. It's always seems to be some odd ball stuff I find with some of these motors.
