Sure can't (catch a break or polish a Sunl). I looked around a bit and I just can't find these parts. I guess I'll have to pull this harness apart. I haven't even found a wiring diagram for this scoot to make it a little easier on me.

Theres so much cash in it now that saving money by not working on it doesnt seem right. At this point I'm hoping it's more effor than money involved in finishing up. I hate it, but there is some hope for it. lol After working on that harness, I'm getting ready to take my Triton out to remind me of why I like scooters. ;D The diagram is done for the stock harness, but I still feel like I should pull my hair out for some reason. The 2 stroke will heal me.

I just heard a few minutes ago that the silver scoot I worked on, which is exactly like this but a minarelli engine and in good shape with 200 miles on it, is going up for sale. Better yet, he wants me to sell it in my yard. He thinks he can get $600 for it. I'd charge him $50 to sell it. I'm considering offering him $400-450 for it, then trying to sell the Sunl for about that once it's electrical stuff is straight... so basically I'd be trading a 4 stroke for a 2 stroke even up if it all worked out. I dunno though. I'm not so sure I like the idea of these little scoots doing 50MPH and the 4 stroke would get better gas mileage. Hmmm.

I'll have to see how it works out when he calls me, but I think I'm gonna go for it if I can get it for $400ish. I'm saying I'd like a scoot that got great gas mileage and it doesn't need to be all that fast. My father says 40-45MPH is fine by him. When he rides with me though, I think having the capability to get up to speed faster and cruise at speed easier would be a big plus and prob worth losing the extra 20MPG or so that the 4T might offer. I'm not a fan of holding up traffic taking off in town, I prefer to leave 'em. It won't do me any good to move out if my father is still at the light.

Good luck, hope ya get it. You and i both know you would be happy with a 2T, and im sure you could get $400 or more out of the Sun when you get the bugs worked out.

I've been doing some wiring and I've got the electrical components working. The headlight will come on via battery power with the scoot not even running still. I wired it and I know it's hooking into the charging/lighting circuit and not battery power. I have the fuse bypassed to avoid going through an endless amount of fuses at the moment. The power wires heat up and I still get a spark when I connect the battery like there's a load on it. I tried disconnecting different things and the only things that make it stop those symptoms are disconnecting the rectifier or stator. The rectifier is brand new, but maybe it's the wrong one or just bad?

I'm starting to think I've got the wrong regulator/rectifier on this thing. It appears to be the same as what came on it, but the guy that worked on it may have put the wrong style on too since it's been doing this since I got it. When I looked it up, this regulator should be a 4 prong style with 2 dots on it, mines a plain 4 prong. I can't find the right one in stock anywhere. Here's the rectifier I need. If anyone knows where to get one, please let me know. (It will say in stock on this page, but once added to the cart it's not in stock.) live.partsprousa.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_37_142_812&products_id=73038

I went thru the same head scratcher with my CPI rectifier, finally found the wiring was different at the plug in connector. One is ground,Battery and 2 AC leads which are different as 1 pulls the headlight circuit.Cant tell you who is who,but I went to a buddys scooter grave yard and copied the harness connections for the regulator I had and that fixed it,,Good Luck!!
