I hate waiting on parts... not that it's been that long... I just hate it. While I was waiting, I painted my cooling fan so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. I did a black base and then used the same grey I used for some of the body panels to speckle it. I just stood back a few feet and sprayed in short bursts till it looked the way I wanted. The busted up CVT cover annoys me too. I rounded it out so it looked planned rather than damaged. I couldn't just stop there so I opened up the clutch area and drilled one more small hole in the front. I think I'm going to paint it like the fan. I thought about painting the clutch bell the opposite, gray with black specks, but I don't have those in high temp paint and can't say I have a real desire to spend $10-15 to paint the bell right now.

Nice work Brent, but I thought you wanted a slightly roughed up intake port?

The intake is slightly roughed up. It doesn't have to be a rocky road, just shouldn't be mirror polished like the exhaust.

Nice ;D. Be cool if you put some screen or expanded metal inside the cover to fill the kick hole. And change the lettering on it to "homie"lol .

I considered filling the kickstart hole at first, but this was faster and keeps stuff cooler. I painted the CVT cover, the clutch bell, and the variator fan. I doubt that the clutch bell's paint will hold up for long, but at least I get to see if it's worth buying high temp paint later. I like it.

I like it too ;D. Looks allot better than the busted hole you had, and the paint just sets it off! Good job! I think some screen painted black and glued inside the cover to "fill" the hole were the kickstarter went would be different and look good too. I know i pretty much said that already didnt i? Just a suggestion if your still bored buddy ;D

I'm not bored enough to go buy screen and glue it in. lol It really doesn't bug me now with the other hole. Looks more like I meant for it to be there. I'm hoping I'll be getting some parts real soon.

I got the parts just before 1PM today. Just haven't had anytime to do anything. I haven't even opened the box yet. Hopefully I'll get to mess with it later tonight.

;D I haven't got any real work done to the engine, but I did do a little checkin' for anyone else interested in a cam and/or valve springs. NCY 1100-1250 Camshaft Here are my measurements for the lobe lift of the stock cam and the performance cam. --------------------------Intake Lobe Lift-------Exhaust Lobe Lift Stock GY6 50cc Cam :_________0.184"____________0.177" NCY 1100-1250 Cam :_________0.184"____________0.178" These need to be very precise measurements when dealing with such small numbers, and I'm just using a cheap set of digital mics. I could be off a little, but there doesn't seem to be any great improvement in lift. It stays the same on the intake and gains 0.001" on the exhaust according to my measurements. I must admit, that's disappointing. I have no idea what the rocker arm ratio is on these little engines, but (just pulling a number from the sky) say it's 2.0:1, that means I would still only be gaining .002" on the exhaust side. So much for really cranking the valves wide open to get air flowing. Now, here's the bright side of the cam. It does appear to have a longer duration. That will help me keep air flowing at higher revs. I don't have any numbers, but you can see the longer duration just by looking at the lobes.

On to the valve springs... NCY 1100-1284 "EP Titanium Valve Spring" Here are the stock 50cc GY6 valve springs with the NCY GY6 valve springs. You can see that the NCY springs are slightly longer, but here are the measurements I got. --------------Diameter-----Length----Weight Stock Outer :__22.10mm__33.45mm__15.4g NCY Outer :___22.20mm__35.53mm__16.5g Stock Inner :__16.00mm__30.09mm__6.95g NCY Inner :___16.01mm__31.90mm__7.2g I can't say I'm too impressed with the valve springs either. After hearing Kliff mention comapanies putting a coating on stock valve springs and selling them as performance springs, these numbers make me wonder. The rainbow coloring also makes me think it may just be a titanium nitride or titanium oxynitirde coating. These springs are actually heavier than stock. Real titanium springs should be lighter than steel springs, even if they are slightly longer and just barely larger in diameter. They are a bit longer, and I suspect they may provide more pressure (sorry I don't have a tool to measure spring pressure), but I wonder if they would still be longer than a set of stock springs that were fresh out of the box.
