It looks like the 120/90/10 I originally bought for the Venus will actually fit the SunL. I'll need to cut just a bit form this bracket to be safe, but it shouldn't be a big deal.

Yeah really, this is going to be an interesting test all around. I can't wait to see what kind of life this 80cc motor is going to have.

I'm wondering if a crank-up build is going to make this thing hit 45+MPH too. I still think the SunL is junk, but maybe I can figure something out for all the other folks that get stuck with these unexplained ultra-slow 139QMBs that don't seem to respond well to any regular or even some extreme mods. Add in researching the bearing claims, and my hatred for the oil this thing spews, and this project is a no-brainer.

Ya might need a turbo to get her up to 45!It'll be an interesting build though.Got my eye on a dead 139 parked in a front yard on my way to work,might have to stop and make an offer if this one turns out good...

Well honestly don't let the SunL fool you, these things have a lot more potential than this one shows. Everybody else seems to slap on a 47mm kit with a stock head and next to no other mods and go 50MPH. Knowing what the 2Ts do, it does make me wonder if their speedometers aren't just off a lot. I worked on one GY6 150cc that thought it could rev to 12,000 RPM. I think the tach went to 14 or 16K, but it actually thought it was revving to 12,000 when I'd guess more like 9,000. It was idling at 2,000RPM and that was as low as I could get it without it cutting out. I shoulda hooked my timing light up just to see what it really revved. Long story short, Chinese gauges are awesome if you just like a good story without the facts. ;D
EDIT : Actually, I did work on a customer's stock GY6 50 and it was way faster than my SunL with all the mods. I only got to 40MPH, but that was stock with me being heavy. Took off way faster.

Don't run out and buy a 120/90/10 for your short case just yet. It's a little tighter than I initially realized. I cut down the exhaust mount just a little. What I didn't notice last night was how close one of the other areas was. It's actually less clearance than this at the center of the tire. About 2mm. I filed the cases just a little to create a tiny bit more clearance. I've been doing this checking at 40psi and I'll prob use 32psi. Not too sure how this tire will fare with such tight tolerances.

The faster the tire spins, the closer it will get to that case.

Yeah, I know. I'm willing to give it a shot though. IF it works it will definitely be the absolute widest and tallest tire that can be fit. Not a good idea for anyone wanting a direct replacement. 100/90/10 or 110/80/10 would be better choices for wider and taller tires.

I'm a strict believer that the engineers put that metal there for a reason so removing it only invites catastrophe but I'm probably just paranoid.

Removing a little from the thick exhaust area doesn't bother me a bit. I don't like removing much around the threaded area of the case. Luckily the high point of the tire is where the bolt just passes through and there are no threads. The bolt passage is sealed off from the crankcase. I'm hoping not to remove any more material and I haven't removed enough to worry me much there yet.

Looking at the pics closely and turning the gears in my head I think it'll be fine. The exhaust mount is the most stressed and there's a lot of metal still there.

Work on em all the time...GY6 49cc,s that is. An old friend heard i was working on em so he brought me his. I cleaned the carb and adjusted the valves for him and we went for a ride. Its wanna the good running ones. He was cruising next to me at 40 pretty easy. His speedo was accurate to about 30-35 then it read allot faster than he was going. I find allot of the factory speedometers do that. The fastest one ive seen so far does 45mph stock. Another customers. I was pretty surprised when i road it! Almost pulled the head to see if it was bored until i realized im not getting paid for that lol! Maybe someday?

Tried to put the tire on, but it'll need some case clearancing to fit. It's not that it wouldn't fit, but rather I don't have enough room to angle the tire the way I need to to get the wheel over the splines on the axle. I'm going to wait until the top end is all together to do any grinding. I've got the crankcase stuffed with rags and then the engine is covered with a fender cover, but with rumors of debris being the possible killer of big bore bearings I'm going to make sure it's not a factor here.
