Thought i'd share a neat trick i learned this weekend.
The PO of my bike painted the cowlings black and i want to get back to the red. I got the correct paint from ColorRite but don't want to paint over the black (it's full of runs).
I got the suggestion to try oven cleaner and it worked great!
Spray the part down good and let sit for a good long time (about an hour).
Then hit it with the garden hose set on the hardest stream. Most of the paint just flicks off!
For stubborn sections repeat. In the end i had to hit a couple of really stubborn spots with a scotchbright pad, but not many.
All done, ready for paint!
