Ok scoot masters, in my scooter newbiedom i have fumble my way thru some mods and tuning. I have hit a wall and cannot figure this one out. Here’s my setup Kymco KFA06 2t Horozontal 50cc AC Malossi 70cc bb Kymco rear facing “race” intake Malossi carbon reeds Oko pwk 19mm: LV pipe Prodigy clutch Ncy clutch pully Naraku variator drive plate Sliders
Here’s my problem. I’ve deleted the oil pump and gone to premix using 32:1 mix ratio. To cut some weight and get a price of mind knowing my motor is lubed while running. When I upgraded to the pwk 19mm carb my pipe no longer produces any smoke, as though it’s running on straight gas with no mix. I’ve checked several times all in line filters for clogging(none found), I’ve tore down my carb(same result). Have increased oil/fuel ratio to 30:1, then 28:1 hoping the oil rich mix may give me a place to begin troubleshooting. I’m out of ideas and any advice will help Thanks

How is your jetting? How does the plug look?

I've gotta few questions... 1: what kinda oil are you premixing with? Some 'low-smoke' stuff is actually pretty much no-smoke Imo. Also, if you happen to be using Lucas 2t synthetic, I know that one is very smokeless but supposedly guys have seized using it. B: what's your jetting and mixture screw and needle set at? To know if your running lean, we gotta know what your running, ya know? THIRD; using more oil in your premix (a.k.a. going to 25:1 from 32:1) is going to lean out your mixture. Your displacing gas with oil, but still giving it the same amount of air. Also, you could end up clogging your pipe with extra unburnt oil.

Yeah, don't try increasing oil, that can actually do more harm then good. Best way to determine if you are running lean, is look at the plug. Smoke is a by product, not an indicator.

Ok thanks first of all for the quick responses, second, I’ll have to get back to you with jet sizes(scoots at my shop) it’ll be tomorrow morning when I can post the jet sizes,. Loud and clear on over mixing, should have included that (when adjusting the fuel mix to 30:1,28:1, I fired the motor let it idle briefly and gave a few short revs then hit the kill switch)both times I didn’t run the motor for long. I try to always use a synthetic blend 2t oil, although as I’ve come to learn the hard way(by not keeping a emergency bottle) since I deleted the oil tank I can’t always use the same oil when fuel gets low. Thing is, as soon as I swapped the carb my 2 smoker started burning clean. As in NO SMOKE. As in the same tank of gas for both carbs. I’ll get the jet info a post it tomorrow, thanks yall

Needle is at the bottom clip, ie 5 positions on needle with 1 being at the physical top with the 5th being at the bottom
Mixture screw atm is 2 1/2 full turns out from seated position. If you can tell me how to post pics I’ll post a few so as to give a better visual description
Thanks again

And atm of creating the thread I was getting ready to do some plug chops it when I got a smokeless scoot I figured better not to. I’ll have an update on plug condition in the morning when I post jetting info
And wanted to say Thanks again to catch a Catchacuda, Benji and eclark for the replies

Personally, I'd run that cylinder at 40:1. It's the cast bore Malossi, yeah? And adding oil to the mix without rejetting actually makes it run lean. Sounds weird, but true.

I would put the clip in the middle knotch and then put the mix screw at 1-1.5 turns. That's 'normal' setting, if it's jetted right then that is where it should be, at least usually. And I agree w spaz 40:1 should be enough oil. 32:1 usually seems like too much to me. Again, what brand oil? It could be a low smoke oil, if it's running lean it could just SEEM smokeless.

If the burn isn't right most of the oil will stay in the motor instead of vaporizing/burning and turning into vapor/smoke.
And yes, you should also plug chop. Plug chop, plug chop, plug chop. Be prepared to spend $30-40 on spark plugs haha. I use postimage.org for pics.

What is your actual problem? These guys here are awesome and have helped me tremendously. I’m ok with 4 strokes but know NOTHING about 2 strokes. I’m getting there-that’s the fun though!

Don't hesitate to use brand names here; ex.your oil. Figure out a way to carry a bottle and a measure with you.

Scooterswapshop, treatland.tv, all kinds of places. OKO,Polini, etc are all the same main. I believe the pilot is the same as a typical gy6 if I'm not mistaken.
