Hello scooter mates. I'm new so first hello and greetings! I could use some help troubleshooting an Hyosung Sense SD50 2 Stroke. Let me start with the 5 wire ignition key was lost so I decided to replace with a new 5 wire generic ignition key ( since parts are a bit hard to find). Gee.. those 5 wire ignition switch lots of pretty wires! So the new ignition 5 wires are different colors but I figured out the best wires connections combinations and connected it to the wiring harness. So now when I turn the key, I immediately get a bright oil light warning indicator ( Stays on ). No horn, No blinkers, no electric start either. But the kickstart works fine, headlamp works and the run/kill switch works to shut the scooter off. But still I have no blinkers, no stop lamp, no horn, no fuel gauge, no electric start when depressing the starter button. I have jumped the starter motor manually so it does turn and react to direct testing. I have jumped wired the oil sensor at the connector and the oil warning light goes off but no electric start. So far I haven't found a shorted or crimped wire. So I am left with testing the turn signal relay, regulator and wondering if the CDI box is bad. Wondering if any one else experience these electrical gremlins. Any advise gladly appreciated!

If the CDI was bad then it wouldn't start. It sounds like you need to do some more testing. I was able to get an OEM CDI from Heeters and they have your key switch. They were a Hyosung dealer and still have parts on the shelf. Calling them is the best way to communicate.

Zilla,I,d be checking for a ground/earth problem with all those failing items, your generic switch might not earth the same way as the OE one. geoff

I would take both switches, put them side by side and with a multi meter "pin" out each wire. You will need to some how get the old ignition switch to work with the key so you can compare what each wire/pin does in the off and on position. It might just be a matter of swapping wires in the plug of the new switch to make it work.

I don't know if you looked in the manual for the SF50 but it has a section on the switch. I don't know how similar the wiring is between them.
