I have a 2004 Zuma 50 with no mods. When I purchased it a few years ago, it had a LeoVince exhaust. The exhaust was stolen, so I purchased a FLY exhaust. Below is a link to the exhaust I purchased and looks very similar to the LeoVince exhaust that was on before. I installed it, but it is much louder now, and I checked for a good gasket seal where the exhaust mounts to engine. And it is very apparent that the sound is coming from the tip of the silencer. I opened up the silencer to see if something was not right. It looked ok, but I was expecting one of those tube baffles that has a mesh for a tube. This one was a tube that just had a few bigger holes in it. I replaced the fiberglass in the silencer in any case, but I am wondering if the loud noise is due to the limited number of holes in the tube for the exhaust to go thru the fiberglass to muffle the sound. I really don't know anything about exhausts, so it is just a wild speculation on my part. I am thinking of drilling more holes in the tube to allow more exhaust to go thru the fiberglass. Is my theory correct that adding more holes would help muffle the sound? Or any other suggestions? www.directcycleparts.com/metric- ... 16281.html

LOL, I had to cut up my stock muffler because it clogged so I reused the pipe, the brackets, and part of the case, and welded a shorty cherry bomb on to it. define loud?

lostforawhile: It is loud enough that the neighbors complain and get a lot of looks from other moped riders. As the driver, it is not that bad, but it a distinct annoying louder sound for the neighbors.
190mech: Thanks, I will just see about drilling a lot of holes and see how that works. Thanks.

I live in the hood, so the neighbors are loud anyway, you can hear it a block and a half away, but all I've gotten are compliments on it sounding good, maybe the cherry bomb mellows it out . if people start complaining I'l buy a baffle that slides into it
