Stock with uni filter in the stock air box and tecnigas silentpro exhaust. S6 19mm carb with 90/40 jets. Snorkel removed
Getting 40mph max and throttle curve feels good. I’m thinking the stock weights are way too heavy for me. I am 135lbs and the weights are like 7gms each?? Is there any benefit to getting a new variator? I was looking at the malossi one. I drew a line across the stock variatior and I still have a little less than a1/4” of room to go. What do you all think?

I have the Multivar on my Derbi and here is a noticeable improvement. What are your RPM's maxing at? What are your RPM's when you clutch kicks in? You may want to play with your springs a little bit. At 135 lbs you should get some more speed out of that.

Lighter rollers and a stiffer torque spring, maybe clutch springs too. A malossi over range is probably the best, but if you don't want to spend the money then a malossi multivar kit is probably still pretty good.

Aren't those Zuma the ones with a limiter in the throttle?

Yup your right that one should have a limited throttle, catylitic converter and air pump from the airboxi think. I had an o8, with the throttle mod it hit 40 or so.

What belt are you using? A stock Yamaha belt will go all the way to the outside edge of the variator. It's also the best belt for a stock cvt. Like Sandstorm and benji mentioned, if you have the stock carb then it is restricted. Here is a link with pics on how to modify the carb: www.zumasrus.com/zdox/zprod14.htmlA video as well, although I've never watched it so can't comment on how good it is.

You guys aren't reading my post....! S6 19mm carb-stock carb is gone! Throttle mod-swapped the stock cable out when I did the carb Stock Yamaha belt Tecnigas silent pro exhaust- cat is gone No bbk!!! My tiny tach battery died on me so I guess it would be a good idea to start there. I hit like 43 today but on the stock weights. I wanna go down but not sure how much. Maybe like 4gm weights? Thanks guys for the help! On vacation this week and I want some seat time to tune! Btw:plug looks pretty nice!

Oooohhhhh, ok. I got it. Your problems the bore. Get a bbk Seriously tho, lighter weights and maybe a stronger torque spring, maybe clutch springs too but the silent pro isn't a high revving pipe is it? Shouldn't need too light of weights or stiff clutch springs. You may just be getting to the limit of the OEM bore and gears. 43 ain't bad w/o CVT mods. But you definitely need to do some tuning to match the pipes sweetspot.

So maybe I should stay with what I have. I’m eyeing up the polini Corsa. By the time I get a new variator and weights I could do the bbk. So will it improve my top end or just how fast I get there? I like the “silent” exhaust and would probably be better off with city driving setup than top speed runs.

I drew a line across the stock variatior and I still have a little less than a1/4” of room to go. What do you all think? I caught the part about the belt not going all the way.

STock belt which people say is best. So if I still have room to go on the variatior I essentially could go down in weights? Just fixed my tach so I’ll report back what I get today!! Thanks again

Ok I’m getting 40mph at 8200 rpms. Not sure what the tecnigas silent pro makes its peak hp at though. Is that where I need to tune my max speed at? The exhaust’s peak hp? I still have the stock variator and weights in it which I believe are 6.5gms each.
It looks like the tecnigas peaks at 7200 and slowly drops off... I am getting a little bit of a “stumble”?? When I am cruising part throttle and then gun it....it hesitated a second or two and then takes off!? Lean or rich? Idle adjustment or needle adjustment?
And I definitely have 1/4” more travel on the variator. I think I can squeeze a bit more out of it honestly.

I'd go lighter on the rollers, but don't have a clue on how light since I know nothing about the pipe. Lighter rollers might even clear up the stumble.

Should have my s6 roller set here tomorrow. I’m guessing to go lighter also.
