Hey all, You can follow here my current messy build of a Italian Vespa VNB from 1962. Here she is after I picked up and put another seat on her, just to check the lines Currently I am stripping the paint, which consists of six layers and is a real pain in the ass. There will be a proffessional paint job, I just want to do as much prep as possible, for experience. After using the stripper I wire brush with a 180grit nylon brush, then cover with oil until I get to remove the last tiny bits of oil. Then there will be rust converter and protection before priming and filling. Some of the oddities I encountered: BEST WIRING NA Two holes in the legshield What will happen to it?As you know me, I like the techhy stuff. So from 8" I will convert to 10" with a disc brake fork. Full YSS low suspension. The engine will be: 210cc Malossi kit, (older version) stroked at 60mm (up from 57) with aggressive timings in the 185-190 exhaust. Comes up to 221cc 38 PWK carb RD350 VForce reeds Stock ignition with a lighter flywheel (50% of the weight) Kingwelle CNC crankshaft, such a beauty Short 4th, long transmission (aiming at 85-90mph) There is a lot of work to be done on the cylinder, I cannot wait. AND YES I KNOW I WILL ATTACK THAT 50cc ENGINE SOON, K???

Those Vespa's you play with get me sweating like a bag of Cat's at a Greyhound meet .
The problem is I can't afford to dive into that world at the moment so I'm living my dream world through you .

The exhaust, which they dont make anymore I think, looked terrible, painted in silver. I had it blasted and ceramic coated, couldn't be any happier! Will rebuild it soon.

I'd acid dip to clear all rust, then e-coat, sand with 320 grit disc to smooth e-coat, then 1600, then paint booth. Would be very very sharp. And the ecoat would prevent future rust and ensure that classic will be around for generations to come.
Edit: Powder coat might be a viable option as well.

Alright, getting really close to finish this up! After the front is done it is time to dry assemble the fork and get to the headset. Engine wise I will use the Pinasco RX190 my wife refuses to ride.

Started working on the concept of wide tire conversion. From 3.50-10 to 130/70-10. I used two larger halves of the split rims. The tricky part will be to space & center it right but with the frame upside down right now it should be good. Will use a busted engine case to experiment. Here are the wheels (of course they wont stay yellow.)

This one doesn’t need to be super accurate so I think I am good on it
But winter is coming and the banshee idea is still out there

Worked on the front end today, mostly roughly assembled, need some new bearings for it all. Tried a fatter tire (100/80) in the front but it will run and I really don’t wanna replace the hub studs to spce it out. So I will run a simple 3.50 in the front, Contin zippy just like the fatty in the back.
