Clutch side done, OKO28 mounted, cylinder in....NOOOOOO!!! Whats wrong with reusing 45 year old cylinder head studs?

Not only were the studs stripping, last try I heard two loud pops right over 10 lbs torque
Looks like case threads on clutch side are both stripped or worn. I think the pop was them pulling out
Im sooo bummed

I’ve used HeliCoils for thread repair in aluminum previously. Actually held up better than the factory aluminum thread. Any experience in a case? How do they hold up, just curious for future reference just in case.

Thanks for the thoughts, fellas. Im waiting on new studs. I havent decided if i should helicoil a m7 or tap case to fit m8 studs. Another friend mentioned time-sert. Do i tap all 4 to match? Leave the fly side case as is? For she sits covered up in a dark corner.

Time serts are supposedly stronger. But helicoil is what most seem to go for.
