OK, Not exactly a new but am a newbie to the 2001 Aprilia Sr50 That I just picked up for $120 with keys and Title! Best score ever! This thing has only 375 miles on it! And I believe it. It has a Leo Vince exhaust and I believe a Top performance bbk. It's missing a couple body parts rear taillight , CVT cover battery cover and one side piece in the back. I think the engine may be seized up ? When loading it into Hyundai on its side. Bunch of oil came out. Some looks to have came out of the crank seal by varistor. Needs more looking into.this Thing is a beauty. Been wanting an Aprilia for years now. I gave up on mopeds/scoots when I moved to Illinois. No scoot law here. Just decided to browse scooters on Letgo yesterday and found it. It must be some kind of sign I said to my girlfriend. I'll throw some pics up on the build thread. I alredy took some of it apart but you will see the beauty of this Beast!

 Aprilias are great scoots. You should find lots of info here www.apriliaforum.com/forums/forum.php. There are a few knowledgable people there but there are some great sources for parts.

Definate rebuild coming up! 😊. Looks like maybe someone may have ordered the wrong bbk or got the wrong piston. The crank has spun it's last spun. I was right about the Tip per Bbk though. Oh did I mention that it came with a DellTORO carb! Even if the engine wasn't there this would have been a great score! Well I'm going to take it slow and steady on this build buy all the best parts I can afford get all the info and tools I need to put it together properly and professionally and when completed! Hopefully be able to hit 90mph.

These have had a few different engines in them through the years. Make sure you know the right one for ordering parts.

I will, I pulled the engine out but still haven't looked at what type engine yet. Been busy. One thing that struck me a lil weird is that the crank case and exhaust was filled with 2 stroke oil??? Maybe to keep internals lubed??

Some people will put a bit of oil down the bore. Then kick it over a few times, if it's going to be stored for a while.
It should not be full up though.

The dellorto carb probably doesn't have the check valve in the oil fitting and the oil tank drained into motor while it say for a long time

^^same thing happened to my ls49. Filled the motor and pipe with oil.

Cleanest engine I have ever seen besides a brand new one. When disassembling the stator nut was loose and the stator cover(brain fart) came off by just me pulling it off? Weird! postimg.org/gallery/3bcrm9zwg/ |
